SAMSUNG SDS introduces Bizentro ERP solution in Japan

Samsung SDS is introducing its flagship ERP solution, Bizentro, in Japan to make its mark in the Japanese market.

Samsung SDS (CEO Hong-Ki Kim) announced on June 11 that it is introducing its own ERP solution, Bizentro, in Japan in June and signed an agreement to export Bizentro solution to Rikei Semiconductor (www.rsc.co.jp), a semiconductor equipment company in Japan.

This is a result of Samsung SDS' research on the Japanese market and subsequent "Japanese solutions market strategy" following President Hong-Ki Kim's order earlier this year to enter the Japanese IT industry.

Through the "Japanese solutions market strategy," Samsung SDS has chosen its ACUBE, an EIP solution; WiseVIEW, a viewer solution; REQUBE, a reporting tool, in addition to Bizentro, its ERP solution as the 4 major strategic solutions for the Japanese market. As such, Samsung SDS plans to push ahead its entry into the Japanese market with the introduction of the other 3 solutions. At the same time, Samsung SDS said that it will strengthen marketing of its packaged solutions such as automobile dealer management system Autoline and IC card systems for medical cards.

Rikei Semiconductor, which became the first export client for Samsung SDS' Bizentro, is a semiconductor equipment company with its headquarters in Tokyo. With this contract with Samsung SDS, the company will construct a complete ERP module. The first shipment of solutions will include sales, procurement, inventory, systems management and management of accounts receivable and accounts payable. The second shipment of solutions will be for finance, accounting, personnel and salary management.

ERP solution Bizentro was first introduced as a web version in November 1999 followed by English, Chinese and Japanese versions earlier this year to seek overseas marketing opportunities. Bizentro supports integrated management of the entire business process from bidding, production, procurement to shipment, while it provides integrated corporate information infrastructure for trade, cost accounting and accounting for cost savings and increased productivity.

Samsung SDS said that the significance of this order is that Rikei Semiconductor is a Japanese company not a Japanese affiliate of a Korean company. Based on the export to Rikei Semiconductor, Samsung SDS plans to expand its marketing to companies with similar manufacturing process.

Samsung SDS Director of Japanese operations Jung-Mook Suh said, "The Japanese IT market has huge potential, as Japanese government is pursuing 'e-Japan' project with the goal to become the most advanced IT-oriented country in the world within 5 years." He added that export to one of the Japanese companies who are very particular about adopting a solution gave an entry into the Japanese market as well as gaining a seal of approval for the quality of Bizentro solution.

Rikei Semiconductor's CEO Hiroshi Nita commented, "Samsung SDS' Bizentro was a standout in supporting Japanese business practices and accounting compared with other foreign software, so that it could be readily applied to Japanese companies without customizing." He added that Bizentro's advantages over Japanese products are that it had global functions such as multi-currency and multi-language support functions. At the same time, it offered competitive price for the quality of its product.

On the other hand, Samsung SDS forecasted that the Japanese package ERP market would grow to 52 billion Yen (520 billion Korean Won) in 2005 from 38.5 billion Yen (385 billion Korean Won) in 2001.
