Egytian Port to Be Built by SAMSUNG Construction

Samsung Construction has secured a US$31 million contract to build port facilities at Damietta, a commercial port in Egypt. Under the contract, awarded by Damietta Port Authority, Samsung will be responsible for 2 million square meter of dredging and construction of a 667 meter long berthing facility and support facilities. Construction at the port will start on April this year and end on March, 2002. Samsung won the bid after fending off competition from Penta Ocean of Japan and Compegnon Bernard of France.
