Can I register or recognize my fingerprint with a protective film approved by Samsung after the software update?

Last Update date : Oct 30. 2020

In order to guarantee the fingerprint recognition and touch performance of the device, genuine protective films from Samsung undergo rigorous internal inspection tests, to ensure Samsung’s high levels of quality standards.

The device may not recognize fingerprints when the protective film is not attached properly and tightly on the device screen.

Air gaps or foreign substances between the protective film and screen may decrease the fingerprint recognition rate.

The device may not recognize fingerprints from fingers that are too dry. Especially    when you wake up in the morning, when you have a drier skin type than normal,  or when you’re outside in winter or in low humidity conditions. In these instances, we recommend that you properly moisten your fingers by using hand cream then you can try again. Samsung is committed to improving fingerprint recognition technology, so we always encourage users to keep software and apps updated to latest version.
