Can I Play Video Games On My Plasma TV?

Yes, you can play video games on your Plasma TV as long as:

  • The TV has a standard Video In jack or S-Video In jack and Left and Right Audio In jacks on its back or side panel.
  • You do not play the games for long periods of time. (See the warning at the bottom of the page.)

An example of a Video In jack, an S-Video In jack and Left and Right Audio In jacks is below:

You would attach the audio out from your game to the right and left audio in jacks and the video out from your game to either the standard or S-video in jack, depending upon the video out format of your game system.

To play a game on most Plasma TVs, turn on your game system and your TV. Then, depending on the remote you have, press the TV/Video or Source button on your remote repeatedly until you have selected either AV or S-video.

Note: In some cases, video games use Component video outputs. If this is the case, and your Plasma TV has Component video inputs (Pr, Pb, and Y), you would connect the Component video out from your game to the Component 1 or Component 2 video in jacks on the back of your TV. You would also connect the audio out from your game to the Component 1 or Component 2 audio in jacks. When you play your game, you would press the TV/Video or Source button on your remote repeatedly until you have selected either Component 1 or Component 2, depending upon how you connected your game.

Warning: Plasma TVs are subject to screen burn in. If you have an Plasma TV, we recommend that you limit your viewing of stationary graphics and images, such video game displays to no more than 5% of the total television viewing per week.

Displaying stationary images that exceed the above guidelines can cause uneven aging of Plasma displays that leave subtle, but permanent burned-in ghost images in the Plasma picture. To avoid this, vary the programming and images you watch, watch mainly full screen moving images, and avoid stationary patterns or dark bars. On Plasma models that offer picture sizing features, use these controls to view different formats as a full screen pictures.
