Utilising Samsung’s proprietary 3D V-NAND technology
Samsung's 3D V-NAND technology features a proprietary vertical cell structure, representing a breakthrough in overcoming the density limit currently facing planar (2D) NAND architecture used in conventional flash memory. This delivers speed, endurance and energy efficiency improvements. The new 3D V-NAND-based SSDs have higher endurance for writing data and consume less power, compared to planar (2D) MLC NAND-based drives. The Samsung 850 PRO delivers fast access and transfer speeds, as well as exceptional endurance (150TB), offering the highest level of performance for SATA III (6GB/s) SSDs. Its sequential read performance reaches up to 550 megabytes per second (MB/s), with write performance of up to 520MB/s. Random read performance is up to 100,000 input/output operations-per-second (IOPS), with write speeds of up to 90,000 IOPS. The increased performance allows for faster transfer of data (especially large photo and video files) to improve computing experience.
Each drive will also contain a copy of the Samsung Magician SSD Toolkit and Data Migration software so Australian customers can transition from their existing drive to their new Samsung SSD. The Samsung Magician SSD Toolkit is also designed to help users easily manage the health and performance of their Samsung SSD. In addition to providing vital SSD health status information, Magician will assist users in updating firmware, measuring performance, and optimising the configuration of a Windows operating system installation.
