SmartThings has a new home on your Galaxy Book
Have you heard the news? The SmartThings app is now available on Windows 10 devices, and that includes your Galaxy Book! Now you can view your connected smart devices from your computer screen and turn them on or off remotely. You can also use the SmartThings Find feature to keep track of your phone, tablet, earbuds, and watch.
Note: Information provided applies to Galaxy Book sold in Canada. Available screens and settings may vary for laptops sold in other countries. Devices will have limited controls when using the PC version of the app. You cannot add or delete devices from the SmartThings Windows app.
The SmartThings Windows app does have some limitations, so you will not be able to use all of the device controls you normally would. However, you can still monitor devices and turn them on or off from your computer! Stay tuned for updates to bring more functionality to SmartThings on your Galaxy book!
Note: First things first, be sure to download the new version of the SmartThings app from the Microsoft store.
Open the SmartThings app, and sign in to the Samsung account that has all of your connected SmartThings devices. Then, allow the necessary permissions. Once you are signed in, your registered devices will automatically appear. Navigate to your preferred Location, and then select Devices.
Your devices and their current status will display. Select the Power icon next to your desired device to turn it on and off.
Note: The computer version of the app also allows you to add favorites, activate Scenes, edit Rooms, and more!
Note: Not only can you use SmartThings Find in the SmartThings app on your phone, but you can use it exclusively on your Galaxy Book as well! SmartThings Find will help you locate your devices if they are missing. Just make sure you are using the new version of SmartThings.
Navigate to and open the SmartThings app on your Galaxy Book, and then select SmartThings Find on the left. You will see a map of your current area, as well as your devices on the right side. Select the plus sign in the bottom right to zoom in on the map, and then select the minus sign to zoom out.
Select Manage in the My devices list to see all of your devices. You can rearrange the list by selecting the arrows on the right and dragging them. To remove a device from the list, deselect it on the left and then select Save.
Navigate back to the map, and then select a device from the list to see more information. You can use the options at the bottom of the screen:
- Search nearby: Scan the immediate area for your device.
- Navigate: Open Google Maps Navigation to find the best route to your device.
- Ring: Make your device ring at its maximum volume so you can find it easily.
