How to use Sabbath mode on your Samsung oven

Sabbath mode adjusts your Samsung oven to comply with certain religious laws for holidays and days of rest. This mode disables the oven's automatic shut-off feature, interior lighting, and audible alerts. While the oven remains on for an extended period, you cannot change the temperature or use other oven features.

Note: This information applies to ranges sold in Canada. Screens and settings may vary for ovens sold in other countries.

Sabbath mode significantly alters your oven's functionality as follows (based on Kosher certification requirements):

  • Only the Bake feature is usable in Sabbath mode. For Flex Duo models, the partition must be removed.

  • The display will show 'SAb' and will not change or make a sound, even if buttons are pressed. A 15-second delay occurs before the oven recognizes any temperature change.

  • The oven stays on until you turn it off, deactivate Sabbath mode, or experience a power outage. Post power outage, the oven will remain in Sabbath mode but will not heat. You can set a Cook Time before activating Sabbath mode; the oven will automatically turn off when this time expires, though Sabbath mode will remain active.

  • Oven light control is disabled during Sabbath mode. If on when Sabbath mode is activated, it stays on, and vice versa.

To activate Sabbath mode, follow these steps or refer to your user manual for model-specific instructions:

1 If desired, set the cooking time and adjust the oven light.
2 Touch Bake, enter your desired temperature, then touch START/SET. The temperature display updates once the oven reaches 175 degrees Fahrenheit (80 degrees Celsius).

Note: Some models have a different process for setting temperature and beginning baking. Consult your user manual for detailed instructions, if necessary.

3 Touch and hold the correct button combination for 3 seconds until the display shows 'SAb'. The button combinations vary by model and include:

Bake and Touch to Wake-Up

Bake and Number 1

Timer and Oven Light

Clock and Timer On/Off

Bake and Up Arrow Pad

• Navigate to Settings, then select Sabbath (on Smart ovens)

4 Turning the oven off keeps it in Sabbath mode, preventing further cooking until you deactivate the mode. To exit Sabbath mode, touch and hold the same buttons for 3 seconds until 'SAb' disappears from the display.

Note: Some touchscreen models will show 'OK' or 'Sabbath Mode Off'. Hold this indicator for 3 seconds until it disappears to deactivate Sabbath mode.
