Share files with your friends quickly, safely and easily with Quick Share. Just a few taps, and you're sending photos, videos, documents and more.
You can even share files between Galaxy devices and PCs from other manufacturers.1, 2

Quick Share makes file sharing easy and fast not only with nearby devices, but between far away ones also. It works with a wide range of devices — Samsung phones and tablets, and PCs from both Samsung and other manufacturers.2 Sending files to your contacts, Quick Share enables the transfer without any restrictions on distance. Non-Samsung mobile devices can receive files through QR codes and text messages. With Private sharing option, it allows for the safe sharing of sensitive or private information, giving you peace of mind.

Share to nearby devices

You can quickly share photos, videos, documents and other files — of any number and size.
If your friends are using iOS or non-Galaxy Android devices, you can still share with them through a QR code.3

How to use Quick Share

Step 1

Select files to share and launch Quick Share

Select the files you want to share and tap the share icon.
Then tap the Quick Share icon.

Step 2

Share files with nearby devices

Select “Share to devices nearby” to show a list of nearby devices.
Tap for one or several at once, and file sharing will automatically start.

*Make sure the nearby devices have their screens turned on, and that they have Quick Share turned on in the Quick Panel (with “Contacts only” or “Anyone nearby” selected).1

Step 3

Or share files using a QR code

Even if the nearby devices aren't from Samsung, you can still share files through a QR code.
Just tap the QR code icon and ask your friends to scan the code that shows up on your device.3

Step 4

Files are sent to the recipient

The recipient will get a pop-up asking to accept the shared files.
Tapping "Accept" on the pop-up will start the file transfer process.

Select the files you want to share and tap the share icon.
Then tap the Quick Share icon.

Choose who to share with and start sharing

Choose a contact you want to share with in the “Share to contacts” menu.3

Files are sent to the recipient

The recipient will get a notification asking to accept the shared files.
Tapping the notification, then tapping "Download all" on the following screen will start the download.

*Requires a Samsung account and Internet connection. If the recipients do not have a Samsung account, they will receive a text message with a link to download the files.

Share files through Private sharing

Use Private sharing to ensure that the shared files are shown only on the recipient’s device and accessible only within the expiration date.
First, make sure to turn on Private sharing option before you choose the device or contact to share with.4

Step 2

Set the expiration date

The default expiration is set for 2 days, after which the recipient cannot open the shared file.
You can set the expiration date to a maximum of 7 days.

How to use Quick Share on PCs

With Quick Share on your PC, you can easily send or receive images, videos and documents with nearby Galaxy devices and PCs from any manufacturer with Quick Share installed.1

  • For mobile devices and tablets, only Galaxy products are currently supported. For PCs, both Galaxy products and Windows PCs from other brands are supported. For more detailed support requirements, please refer to the Quick Share supported devices section.

  • In order to receive files from other nearby devices, your device’s screen must be turned on, and the "Who can share with you" settings in Quick Share must be set to either “Contacts only” or “Anyone nearby.” However, devices logged into the same Samsung account can receive files from each other at any time, regardless of the "Who can share with you" settings.

  • The options for "Who can share with you" are as follows.

    • No one: No one can share with you.
    • Contacts only: Only users saved in your Contacts with Samsung accounts can share with you.
    • Anyone nearby: Anyone nearby can share with you.

    *Devices logged into the same Samsung account can always share with each other regardless of settings.

  • Share to devices nearby
    - Files can be shared without using mobile data.

    Share using QR code/Share to Contacts
    - Mobile data usage is required. It is highly recommended to share large files through a Wi-Fi connection.

  • For file sharing with nearby devices, there is no limitation on the number and size of files that can be shared.
    For file sharing with QR codes and contacts, a maximum of 1,000 files can be transferred at a time. There is a size limitation of 3GB per file and 5GB per day that can be transferred.
    With Private sharing, you can transfer up to 20 files and 200MB of data at a time.

  • For file sharing with nearby devices, there is no restriction on the file type that can be shared.
    A variety of images, videos, audios, documents, APKs, URLs, and other types of files can all be freely transferred.

    For file sharing with QR codes and contacts, certain types of files are not supported:
    Executables: .exe, .com, .bat, .cmd, .vbs, .reg, .msi.

    With Private sharing, the following types of files can be transferred:
    • Images: "jpeg", "jpg", "png", "gif", "bmp", "webp", "heic", "dng"
    • Videos: "webm", "mp4", "3gp", "3g2", "mkv"
    • Audio: “mp3”, “wav”, “ogg”, “m4a”
    • Document: “txt”, “pdf”

  • To use Private sharing, tap the “More options” menu at the top of the Quick Share screen and select “Turn on Private sharing.”
    Private sharing prevents others from screenshotting, saving or resending shared files.
    You can also set an expiration time and date on the files to prevent the recipient’s access after the designated time.
    It is recommended to use the Private sharing option to share sensitive files containing personal information or confidential files meant for a select person.
    *The Private sharing option is available on Galaxy phones, Tabs and Books.

  • You can share up to 20 files and 200MB of data at a time through Private sharing.

  • The following types of files can be shared through Private sharing.
