Galaxy S6 edge: How do I use Edge lighting and People edge features on Edge screen?

The Edge screen lights up when you receive a call or notification while the device’s screen is facing downwards.

 

Note: If your Galaxy S6 edge device does not have the People edge feature, then please update the software of the device to the latest version.

Enable People Edge

 

Via People edge feature, you can check missed notifications about your most important contacts on the Edge screen. The Edge screen can display a tab with an assigned color when there is a missed notification from a priority contact.

 

1. On the Apps screen, tap Settings.


2. Scroll down to Edge screen menu and tap Edge screen.

3. Tap People edge and tap the switch to activate it.

 

Note : This feature is available on the Home screen, locked screen, and Apps screen

Enable Edge Lighting


4. Tap Edge lighting and tap the switch to activate it. Edge screen lights up when you receive calls or notifications while the device is turned over.
If People edge feature is also enabled, the color of the indicator will depend on your My People settings.


5. To activate the People edge, return to previous screen by taping back arrow.

Add Priority Contacts

 

Add frequently used contacts to the My people list and set them as your priority contacts.

 

6. Tap My people.


7. Select a color by tapping “+” and select a contact to add.

 

Only contacts saved in Contacts can be added to the My people list.

Alternatively, you can also add frequently used contacts to the My people list directly from Home screen.


8. Drag the tab from the Edge screen towards the center of the screen to open the My people list.


9. Select a color by tapping “+” and select a contact to add.

Edit Priority Contacts

 

10. To change the order of contacts, tap and hold a contact icon and drag it to another location.

 

11. To delete a contact, tap and hold a contact icon and drag it to Remove at the top of the screen.

12. To change the assigned color for a contact, tap setting option.
13. Tap My people.
14. Tap the contact’s color icon to change the color.
15. Select the color.

Now, you can check a new color icon.

 

 

 

Communication via People Edge

 

If you tap contact’s color icon, you can directly send call or message to specific contact.


When there is a missed notification from a My people contact, a tab with the contact’s assigned color will appear on the Edge screen.

 

16. Drag the tab towards the center of the screen to view the details.

 

17. You can directly reply to the contact by tapping one of the communication options.
