Using an excessive amount of detergent can disrupt the functionality of your detergent dispenser, resulting in reduced detergent reaching your clothing and creating the illusion that you need to use more detergent. This practice may also lead to unpleasant odors and other issues with your washing machine. Maintaining a clean detergent dispenser is effortless, provided that you keep it mostly spotless by wiping it dry after each laundry cycle.

Steps for cleaning the detergent and fabric softener compartments:

1 Open the detergent dispenser.
2 Press the release latch ([A]) inside the detergent dispenser.
3 While holding down the [A] button, pull out the dispenser.
4 Remove the hard water softener divider and liquid detergent cartridge (if applicable) from the detergent compartment.
5 Rinse all interior walls under running water and scrub the dispenser's slots using a worn toothbrush.
6 Gently reinsert the water softener dividers and liquid detergent cartridge (if applicable) into their respective holders. Carefully replace the dispenser in its proper location within the washing machine.

Additional tips:

Run a rinse and spin cycle without adding detergent:

  • If you see soap bubbles in the wash even though you didn't add anything to the drawer, this is a residue being cleaned out. Keep running more cycles until you don't see soap bubbles anymore.
  • This keeps things clean, And it improves the washer's performance, and helps prevent odors.
