Samsung Galaxy Smartphone: How can I recover deleted photo?

It would be very upsetting if you lose your precious photos. If in case you accidentally lose them, there is a way to restore deleted photos as follows. Moreover, also find out how to transfer, store, and manage photos containing your memories in advance.

Note: Available settings and screens may vary by software version and device.

Before you try out below recommendations as to your solution, be sure to check if your device's software is updated with latest version. Please check how to update your mobile device's software in following order. 

Step 1. Go to Settings > Software update.

Step 2. Tap on Download and install

Step 3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Option 1. Using Gallery app

 

Check your Trash
Keep deleted images and videos in the Trash for 30 days before they are deleted forever.

Step 1.
Open Gallery app > tap Menu.
Step 2. Select Trash > tap Edit.
Step 3. Select photos you want to restore > tap Restore.

Activate Trash
To use Trash, you should have turned on the Trash before you deleted photos.

Step 1. Open Gallery app > tap Menu.
Step 2. Select Settings >Select Trash to turn on.

Option 2. Using Google Photos app

 

Check your Trash
Items will be permanently deleted after 60 days in Trash.

Step 1. Open Google Photos app > tap Library.
Step 2. Select Trash > tap Select.
Step 3. Select photos you want to restore > tap Restore.
Step 4. Tap the pop-up to restore items.

Check your account
Some photos may look like they disappeared because you are in a different account.
Check your signed in account. Is that the account you backed up your photos to? If not, sign out, and then sign in with the correct account.

Option 3. Samsung Cloud

 

Gallery sync using Samsung Cloud has been switching to MS OneDrive for convenience. Periodic backups are required to prevent unwanted data loss including photos and videos. You may also find more information on  ‘How can I backup data on my Galaxy device automatically?

Step 1. Navigate to Gallery > tap More options (three vertical dots) > Settings.

Step 2. Tap Cloud sync > Connect your Samsung and Microsoft accounts if needed.

Step 3. follow on-screen instructions until the sync has started.
