What is SDHC?

Secure digital High capacity (SDHC) is a non volatile memory card format used in portable devices such as mobile phones,cameras, notebooks and other types of card readers. The secure digital card family is divided into three categories as shown below :

(They are divided as per their size, capacity,data flow and other physical attributes.)

 

SDHC - This format supports a card capacity upto 32 GB and its designed to ensure compatability. It is identical in physical attributes with Standard capacity cards (SD card) ,however system designed to read SDHC will support SD as well but not vice versa.

Different speeds are needed to do different jobs, such as shooting a FULL HD video will require a class 6 or above SD card. These SD cards are divided into different classes as per their read- write speed. Following are the categories for different classes of SD cards and their minimum specified read-write speeds :
