Will my data be lost when doing firmware upgrade using FOTA or through KIES?

Users across the world have a common doubt of loosing data while upgrading device to the latest firmware. Lets put this doubt of losing data to rest. Data means any contacts, images, applications, video files, music, text messages etc. If the user upgrades the firmware using FOTA or KIES the data will remain untouched in your Samsung Smartphones.
NOTE : It is highly recommended that you back up your mobile device before starting any software upgrade (either through FOTA, or via Samsung Kies).
