Low-power memory for green computing and consumer products

Samsung green memory products

Samsung continuously develops memory solutions featuring low energy consumption that are manufactured without hazardous substances. The company develops innovative technologies to significantly cut power requirements for computing platforms and a range of consumer devices. These include DDR3 synchronous DRAM, low-power 1Gb mobile DRAM and 50nm-class GDDR5.


Low-power DDR3 for main memory

Given the importance of increasing “green” features in computers, Samsung offers advanced DDR3 SDRAM components that enable computing platforms to significantly cut power consumption. Samsung’s new 2Gb DDR3 memory offers outstanding power-savings. Whether installed in servers, desktops or notebooks, these DDR3 chips can cut energy requirements by more than 60%.


Latest mobile DRAM cuts energy usage

Samsung recently delivered the first 1Gb mobile DRAM using 80nm process technology. Used for a range of handhelds, digital cameras, portable media players and gaming systems, this low-power mobile DRAM includes technology to reduce power drain in standby mode by 30%and utilizes other new features to further extend battery life.


Blazing-fast new graphics DRAM uses less power

With demand for high-performance graphics increasing, Samsung offers GDDR5 components based on advanced, 50nm-class process technology. Used to render realistic images for graphics cards and game consoles, Samsung GDDR5 doubles memory bandwidth from GDDR4 but operates at just 1.35 volts. This represents a 20% power reduction from the previous generation.
