Immerse your senses with the latest Samsung offering

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa - 24 April, 2015 - Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., is introducing the world’s first Curved SUHD TV to South African consumers who now have the opportunity to pre-order this television range from 22 April 2015 to 17 May 2015. The new SUHD TV marks a monumental leap into the future of television viewing.

According to Matthew Thackrah, Deputy Managing Director and Head of Consumer Electronics at Samsung South Africa, the SUHD TV celebrates a major milestone in the UHD era, delivering superior picture quality with stunning contrast and striking brightness. Included in the product is the SUHD re-mastering engine which automatically analyses the brightness of images to minimise additional power consumption, whilst expressing excellent contrast levels. Images have much darker blacks and an elevated brightness two-and-a-half times brighter than conventional TVs, with twice the colour adjustment points.

SUHD TV’s nano-crystal semi-conductor transmits different colours of light depending on their size in order to ensure the highest purity and light efficiency available today. This technology provides for a wide range of more accurate colours, providing viewers with twice the adjustment points and 64 times more expression than conventional TVs.

“Samsung continues to provide consumers with innovation that take entertainment to the next level and with the value-added benefits included in the pre-order purchase, users can enjoy the very best in home entertainment,” says Thackrah.

All new Samsung Smart TVs are also powered by Tizen, which provides better connectivity and gives developers a more robust and easier platform for which to create new applications. It also ensures that consumers will have access to a much broader range of Smart TV content and services than ever before.

Consumers who pre-order the 65” and 55” Curved SUHD TV from 22 April 2015 to 17 May 2015 can enjoy benefits such as free delivery and installation of the product. The 55’’ will only be available at Samsung Brand Stores.

Furthermore, Samsung is also offering users who purchase the 66’’ TV within this period the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge for free. The launch of the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge creates a new standard for design, craftsmanship and performance, seamlessly blending of premium materials with the most advanced Samsung technology to offer consumers an unmatched mobile experience. Consumers who buy the 55’’ TV during the promotion period will receive the Galaxy S6 for free.

The company will offer three new models of SUHD TVs – JS9500, JS9000 and JS8500 – in seven screen sizes varying from 55” to 88”. The recommended retail price of the product varies from R35,000 to R300,000 (model dependent).

Thackrah concludes: “The introduction of SUHD TV provides consumers with an extremely improved home entertainment experience that is both true-to-life and has never been seen before.”
