Promoting Youth Education and
Sustainable Development in Xi’an

Through the Samsung Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, we strive to create positive change around the world, focusing on the regions where our employees are located and where we conduct business. In Xi’an, China, Samsung has invested more than $10 billion in production facilities and technology research and development, and employs more than 3,300 people at its local offices. With an emphasis on youth education, sustainable development and environmental protection, our corporate citizenship projects address global societal issues by leveraging Samsung’s expertise in technology, culture and innovation.

Teaching the Hope Classes

With the “Hope Primary School Project,” Samsung has supported building and renovating new school facilities in China so that students can concentrate on their studies in a pleasant and safe environment. In August 2014, more than 200 students from 10 different Hope Primary Schools visited the Samsung China Semiconductor (SCS).
The students learned about the basics of electrical products and semiconductor solutions with a detailed tour provided by Samsung employees, who also accompanied them to a rare animal museum and participated together in street cleaning as a part of community service.

Supporting the Xi’an Wall Marathon

Since 2013, Samsung has sponsored the Xi’an Wall Marathon event to encourage employees to participate in the run and to pursue a healthy lifestyle. As part of the sponsorship, Samsung has organized volunteers to work with the Xi’an city on promoting sustainable development, and to help with the Wall protection and cleaning activities.

Protecting the Natural Environment

Since 2015, Samsung has encouraged employees to participate in environmental protection activities. In light of such initiative, on March 22, 2016 – World Water Day – Samsung employees in Xi’an watched a documentary on nature, “Ocean,” together and released loaches into a nearby lake. On June 3, 2016, Samsung organized a quiz event about environmental protection and awarded the winning employees with recycled plastic bags. In 2017, more than 200 Samsung employees volunteered to clean up the local streets and empty the public litter baskets.
