Exynos i T200 integrates processing power, Wi-Fi connectivity and high level of security features

Seoul, Korea – June 22, 2017 - Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a world leader in advanced semiconductor technology, today announced the mass production of its first Exynos-branded Internet of Things (IoT) solution, the Exynos i T200.

The Exynos i T200, built on a low-power 28-nanometer (nm) High-K Metal Gate (HKMG) process, is a one-of-a-kind IoT solution with Wi-Fi connectivity and high processing capabilities delivering the performance needed for upcoming IoT use cases. Exynos i T200 is equipped with a Cortex®-R4 processor and an additional Cortex®-M0+ processor enabling a device to process and perform various tasks without adding an extra microcontroller IC in the system.

In terms of connectivity, Exynos i T200 supports 802.11b/g/n single-band (2.4GHz). The processor has received Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ from Wi-Fi Alliance, Microsoft Azure Certified for IoT. It also natively supports IoTivity, an IoT protocol standard from the Open Connectivity Foundation (OCF), which enables seamless interoperability between IoT devices.

“Exynos i T200 is an IoT solution optimized in both performance and security demanded in the IoT market,” said Ben Hur, Vice President of System LSI marketing at Samsung Electronics. “With various Exynos solution offerings, Samsung will deliver further differentiated value to not only mobile devices, but also non-mobile spaces, including automotive and IoT.”

Today, the biggest challenge in applying IoT capability for device manufacturers and consumers is concern around security and privacy. To address such concerns, the Exynos i T200 has a separate and designated security management hardware block called the Security Sub-System (SSS). In addition, the Physical Unclonable Function (PUF) IP generates truly unique value for secure data storage and device authentication management without fusing a key onto silicon and relying on a discrete security IC for key storage. This security measure provides a much higher level of security compared to the conventional one-time programmable (OTP) based solutions.
