Samsung Semiconductor is serious about sustainability. That’s why we continue to push the limits of what memory chips can achieve to save your time, your memories, and our planet more than ever before. Built with eco-friendly tech, our power-saving chips are paving the way to a greener future.
The world we live in today moves at a fast pace creating
huge amounts of data as well as energy. And time is more
precious than ever before. Samsung DDR5 saves time by
tackling complex loads easily with transfer speeds of up
to 7,200 Mbps.
And in the process, saves the planet with
environmentally friendly technology that uses less power
and performs better.

Even as we speak, Samsung Semiconductor is saving the planet one green chip at a time. Over the years, we have steadily reduced our carbon footprint by developing low-power products and building eco-friendly workplaces. We’ve become a leader in reusing and recycling resources, and we continue to work with the community to preserve nature.
With inspiring eco-friendly technology and a relentless dedication to sustainability, we challenge the now to enable a better, brighter, and greener tomorrow. At Samsung Semiconductor, we go beyond protecting the planet. We’re doing our part to save it.
Samsung DDR5 is fast. Its transfer speeds go up to 7,200 Mbps giving you performance that's powerful enough to handle compute-hungry, high-bandwidth workloads in supercomputing, AI and machine learning applications. Capacity-wise, it gives you up to 512GB. And is built with self-correcting solution tech for robust reliability. And compared to DDR4, it achieves 30% higher power efficiency, making it the greener choice when it comes to memory solutions.

Online data from searching, streaming, social media and gaming are stored in data centers that consist of thousands upon thousands of chips processing data 24 hours a day. These data centers get hot as the amount of traffic increases and cooling them off requires another astronomical amount of energy. Since low-power memory chips reduce the energy used to cool off data centers, they can actually save the planet. If data center memory was replaced with Samsung SSDs and DRAM with DDR5, we could save 4 terawatt hours (TWh) in one year. That’s enough energy to power all the streetlights in Korea for one whole year.
Samsung SSDs offer the performance, energy efficiency and security that data centers require. They have also proven to deliver the high power efficiency, reducing data center operation costs as well as carbon emissions. And that’s why even as we speak, Samsung relentlessly continues to create leading low-power memory semiconductors.

Osan Stream is a body of water that runs 15 kilometers through Gyeonggi Province in Korea. And it was the kind of water that animals struggled to survive in. Starting from 2007, we worked with environmental groups to increase the amount of water by releasing purified water from the adjacent Giheung site each day during the summer. Recently, we have been releasing 45,000 tons of water every day, and we have been able to raise the water quality to such high standards that it’s now clean enough for otters to return and raise their families.
The tons and tons of water released into the stream was waste water that had been purified at our Green Center and recycled back to the stream. The quality of the water purified at our Green Center is so high it’s actually much cleaner than that of the surrounding streams.
And before the water is released into the stream, the water quality is monitored in real time through the Korea Environment Corporation’s Tele-Monitoring System (TMS) and sent to government agencies.
Samsung follows the three Rs — reduce, reuse and recycle. That is, consuming less water, using water again and reprocessing it. Our strict water management enabled the miracle of Osan Stream, and we were the first in the industry to earn Water Footprint certification from the U.K.-based the Carbon Trust.
