When folding the Galaxy Z Flip, magnetic materials were unintentionally drawn to the screen

Last Update date : Oct 06. 2020

Q: When folding the Galaxy Z Flip, magnetic materials were unintentionally drawn to the screen and caused damage to it. I think it's because of the magnetic nature of the Galaxy Z Flip. What should I do?

A: Due to the flexible nature of the form factor, while the hinge enables a seamless unfolding and folding experience, the magnets in the Galaxy Z Flip hold the two sides together securely. When folding the device, you must be careful not to place any objects, such as cards, coins, or keys, on the screen because the screen may be damaged. If you encounter this issue, please visit your nearest Authorized Samsung Service Centre and check whether you are eligible for warranty. Additional costs for the service may be incurred if the device has been damaged due to customer’s negligence.

Also, the magnets in the device may affect medical devices, such as pacemakers or implantable cardioverter defibrillators. If you are using any of these medical devices, keep your device a safe distance away from them and consult your physician before you use the device.  And, since magnetic objects, such as credit cards, passbooks, access cards, boarding passes, or parking passes, may be damaged or disabled by the magnets in the device, please do not place your device near magnetic fields.
