Las Vegas, NV - Sep 11, 2014 - Samsung Telecommunications America, LLC (Samsung Mobile) was recognized for the Samsung evolved Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (eMBMS) solution with the prestigious Emerging Technology Award by CTIA during Super Mobility Week. Samsung's eMBMS solution was judged by a selection of industry executives, to be the best emerging technology in 2014.
eMBMS, also often referred to as LTE Broadcast, enables operators to broadcast content to multiple mobile users in a cell or defined area, ensuring valuable spectrum can be assigned to other users and deliver the best mobile experience for all users. LTE eMBMS can serve a large number of subscribers in challenging environments like stadiums, malls and concert venues, simultaneously without delays or disconnection. The solution allows operators to dynamically assign up to 60% of a cell's radio resources to broadcast traffic, minimizing the impact of simultaneous unicast on network congestion.
The award recognizes Samsung's continued leadership in LTE technology and is testament to the extensive focus which Samsung has placed on Research and Development for LTE / LTE-A enabling technologies and solutions.
"Samsung is honored to be recognized by CTIA for its eMBMS solution. The best Emerging Technology award is further proof of Samsung's ability to innovate and deliver some of the most important and valuable solutions for LTE customers," said Rick Svensson, Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Product of Samsung Telecommunications America. "The award highlights the focus we place on addressing our customers' most important requirements."
Since the commercial deployment of Samsung's eMBMS solution in Korea in January, Samsung has continued to develop and evolve the solution during the last 9 months and has now conducted additional trials with a number of mobile network operators around the world.
Samsung's eMBMS solution was previously recognized by the industry earlier this year, when it received the award for Most Innovative Service/Application at the 2014 LTE Awards in Amsterdam.
With more than 30 years of experience and leadership in developing and commercializing telecom technologies, Samsung has successfully partnered with dozens of mobile service providers around the globe, helping them to implement the most advanced LTE solutions.
