SAMSUNG and ALEM COMMUNICATIONS bring Mobile WiMAX to Central Asia

Seoul, Korea, May 10th 2010 - Alem Communications Holding LLP (Alem Communications), one of the largest alternative triple-play operators in Kazakhstan, announced today that it has selected Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., a leading provider of future mobile technology, as its exclusive solution vendor to bring Mobile WiMAX to Kazakhstan.

 

Alem Communications via its subsidiary Digital TV LLP launches its first commercial Mobile WiMAX service in Almaty, the economic hub of Kazakhstan, as of May 1st 2010, after the successful soft launch of the service earlier in March. As part of its gradual nationwide expansion, Alem Communications also plans to further deploy Mobile WiMAX services in several other large cities later this year, including the capital city Astana.

 

The new mobile broadband service from Alem Communications allows its customers in Kazakhstan to enjoy a much higher capacity of data, Internet and voice service, all at a reasonable price.

 

Following the beginning of the partnership between Samsung and Alem Communications in September 2009, Samsung has now provided its field-proven 2.5GHz Mobile WiMAX solutions including base stations, service network gateways and other service-related equipment.

 

With a new contract in the largest country in Central Asia, Samsung has established a bridgehead to expand Mobile WiMAX market to Asian and Eastern Europe. Also Kazakhstanbe came one of the regions primed to adopt innovative technology.
