LRTC (Lithuanian Radio and TV Centre), the most influential broadcasting service provider and Mobile WiMAX service provider in Lithuania, and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., a leading provider of telecom systems and mobile phones, announced today the launch of Mobile WiMAX 4G Internet service in Lithuania’s big five cities.
LRTC and Samsung launched the Mobile WiMAX service MEZON in Kaunas, the second largest city in Lithuania, and Kaunas became the fifth place where Mobile WiMAX services are being provided in Lithuania. LRTC and Samsung have deployed Mobile WiMAX network in Panevezys,Klaipeda,Siauliai and Kaunas since the first launching in Vilniuson 3rd March.
Along with its wider Mobile WiMAX Internet service coverage, LRTC accelerates its sales and marketing activities in various ways. In particular, LRTC increased the number of sales store for Mobile WiMAX terminals, therefore, 8 popular shopping and entertainment centers in the major 5 cities carries USB dongles and Mini PC (Netbook) for Mobile WiMAX service. LRTC also constantly places advertisements on TV, newspapers and magazines etc, while introducing new service plans featuring lower pricing and unlimited data.

LRTC expects more than one hundred thousand subscribers will use Mobile WiMAX service in early 2010 and the number of subscriber will increase rapidly if the nationwide Mobile WiMAX network builds by the end of 2010.

LRTC is the main terrestrial radio and TV network operator in Lithuania which has more than 50 years of experience in terrestrial broadcasting. It is the member of WiMAX Forum since 2004 and has obtained the license for Mobile WiMAX from Lithuanian Communications Regulatory Authority in 2007.
