SAMSUNG Demonstrates Latest Mobile WiMAX Technology, During “WiMAX World 2008”

Seoul, Korea, October 1, 2008 - Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today demonstrated its latest Mobile WiMAX devices and technology during ‘WiMAX World 2008’ Chicago, once again reaffirming its leadership in the Mobile WiMAX industry.

The 5th annual WiMAX conference, which will open until Oct. 2, attracts more than 10,000 attendees from more than 125 countries. Samsung is participating in various activities including showcases, keynote speech, and roundtable sessions.

Samsung plans to showcase several system equipments such as U-RAS Premium and U-RAS Compact that were recently announced via Sprint's commercial network in Baltimore, and U-RAS Flexible used in Scartel's commercial network in Russia. Various types of devices such as PDA, UMPCs, PMPs, PC cards, and USB modems are also on display. Notably, USB dongle U200, which will be used in Scartel's commercial service, is also included in the display for the first time.

Hwan Chung, Senior vice president of Samsung Telecommunications America (STA), will deliver a speech about Samsung's vision and strategy on Mobile WiMAX at the keynote session.

“Samsung’s leadership in the Mobile WiMAX industry has already been proven in various markets including US, Russia, Japan,” said Hwang. “Mobile WiMAX is the best existing technology in terms of efficiency, speed of standardization, and compatibility. Starting from 2008 and coming years, we expect that there are many more countries and operators that will deploy Mobile WiMAX services.”

Separately in the solutions theater, Hung Song, Vice President from Telecommunication Systems Business of Samsung Electronics, and Muzibul Khan, Vice President of Product Management and Engineering of STA, will speak about Mobile WiMAX systems and devices respectively that demonstrates Samsung's End-to-end solution.
