Vienna, Austria, Seoul, Korea, June 1st, 2007 - Live from WiMAX World Europe - Samsung Electronics, Co., Ltd., a leading provider of mobile phones and telecom systems, announced today that Samsung has been selected to receive the WiMAX World Europe 2007 Award for U-RAS Premium Base Station in System Design by xchange, telecommunication specialized monthly magazine. The awards recognize leaders in the development and deployment of WiMAX technologies. Nominations were open to exhibitors and sponsors of the WiMAX World Europe Conference, being held May 29-31, in Vienna, Austria, and selected by a judging panel of experts from the WiMAX community.
Samsung U-RAS Premium Base Station received the System Design award on May 30th, during the WiMAX World Europe Conference at a cocktail reception following the close of the first day’s convention sessions at the Austria Center Vienna. Eliot Weinman, president of Trendsmedia, the events and publishing division of Yankee Group that produces WiMAX World Conferences & Expos, and Mike Saxby, group publisher of xchange magazine, presented the awards in six categories. Samsung and their award will be featured in the July issue of xchange, as well as on the WiMAX World and xchange Web sites.
