This award recognizes Samsung’s innovative efforts to advance circularity and scale its use of recycled materials.

  • Energy Winner of the Year

    Galaxy Book5 Pro was recognized for its energy efficiency improvements at the 28th Energy Winner of the Year Awards, hosted by Consumers Korea and sponsored by the South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Environment, and the Korea Energy Agency. It received the 2025 Energy Winner Award.

  • Green Product of the Year

    The Galaxy S25 Series and Galaxy Book5 Pro have been selected as the ‘Green Product of the Year 2025’ by the Korea Green Purchasing Network (KGPN), a non-profit civic organization in South Korea.

    The Galaxy S25 Series was recognized for its expanded use of recycled materials, including cobalt, through its ‘Circular Battery Supply Chain.’ Galaxy Book5 Pro was awarded for its energy-efficient technology, which reduced standard annual power consumption by 13.3%.

  • Reuters Responsible Business Awards

    Samsung Electronics won the Responsible Business Award from the global media group Reuters for two consecutive years in 2020 and 2021. Galaxy Upcycling at Home won the Circular Transition Award in 2021, and Samsung Global Goals App won the SDG Impact Award in 2020.
    Additionally, in 2024, Samsung Global Goals App won bronze in the “Partnership or Collaboration – Responsible Technology” category of the 4th annual Anthem Awards for advancing social impact through technology.

  • 2023 Social Impact Awards

    Our “Transforming Ghost Nets into Mobile Technology” campaign won in the Sustainability Campaign Sector at the 2023 Social Impact Awards organized by PRNEWS. Through this campaign, we accomplished our goal of applying recycled materials to all Galaxy devices launched in 2022 and reaffirmed our will to contribute to the preservation of marine ecosystems.

  • 2022 SEAL Business Stability Awards

    Samsung Electronics received the Sustainable Product Award at the 2022 SEAL Business Stability Awards. Presented by Sustainability, Environmental Achievement and Leadership (SEAL), a California-based NGO - in recognition of our application of materials recycled from discarded fishing nets to Galaxy products - the award is testament to our commitment to advancing sustainability and preserving the environment.

The Carbon Trust Certifications : Carbon Footprint

The Carbon Trust certified the following products as 'CO2 Measured' in accordance with PAS 2050,
a standard to assess carbon emissions throughout the product life cycle, from production to disposal.

The following mobile devices obtained UL ECOLOGO certification, which is in line with the
American National Standards Institute’s ANSI/UL 110 Standard for Sustainability for Mobile Phones.

  1. The bonding wire in the Front and 3x Telephoto Camera Modules is made from 100% recycled gold.
  2. The copper foil used in various modules such as Display, Camera, and Wireless Charging Module, and main Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) is made 100% of recycled copper.
  3. A minimum of 25% of the batteries of the Galaxy S25 is cobalt by weight, 50% of which is recycled cobalt.
  4. The magnets used in the Speaker Modules and Motor are made from 100% recycled rare earth elements (neodymium).
  5. Standards for the Control of Substances Used in Products
  6. Samsung Electronics joined RE100, a global initiative to reduce indirect carbon emissions from power usage (Scope 2), and is pursuing the transition of used electricity to renewable energy by 2050. Samsung Electronics aims to achieve transition 100% renewable energy at all overseas operations and DX Division by 2027. As of 2023, our operations in the US, China, Europe, South Korea, Vietnam, India, and Brazil have reached this target, we are planning to expand direct power purchase agreements(PPAs) centering on the regions equipped with active renewable energy policies and systems.
  7. Samsung's zero waste-to-landfill goal is based on UL certifications, which certify global operations based on the % of waste diverted.
