When guests turn up at a hotel today, many travel with a bag full of digital devices – from smartphones to tablets – that keep them constantly connected to their social media and favourite streaming shows.
In this connected era, hospitality players face fresh impetus to transform their guest experience, especially in a region that is welcoming a new generation of young and affluent travellers expecting top-notch service befitting of their digital-centric lifestyles.
At The Apurva Kempinski Bali, the challenge was similar to, yet different from, others. Already a much loved and admired luxury hotel, it had set an ambitious goal to deliver seamless, personalized five-star digital experiences for discerning guests.
The resort hotel knew this meant more than installing the latest and the greatest technologies. Instead, it sought to carefully blend its cultural heritage and modern luxury, telling the story of Bali’s grandeur, grace and authenticity in the process.
As Eva Gepak, Executive Assistant Manager at The Apurva Kempinski Bali, points out, the digital guest experience is not merely a convenience today – it is an essential extension of genuine hospitality.
“We believe that personalized service and elegance must flow seamlessly into the digital space, ensuring that every interaction reflects the same warmth and refinement our guests experience on property,” she said.

“From the moment guests discover the resort online to the time they depart, a thoughtful digital journey allows us to anticipate their needs, provide timely assistance, and craft experiences that feel effortless and meaningful,” she noted.
Partnering Samsung to Deliver Memorable Experiences
To enter this new digital era, The Apurva Kempinski Bali partnered Samsung to set up digital displays across the property. From the attractive 4K TVs in guest rooms to digital signages in the lobby, the displays delivered new experiences for guests while being easy for hotel staff to manage and use.
The Samsung Hospitality TV HBU8000, for example, offers stunning 4K picture quality for guests to enjoy in the comfort of their room. Samsung’s AirSlim design, with a svelte finish, effortlessly complements the hotel’s luxury interiors.
With Google Cast being integrated into Samsung’s latest hotel TV series, guests can access their favourite content from 5,000 Cast-enabled apps by mirroring their Android and iOS devices on the TV without need for additional dongles or login. At the operational level, there is no longer the need for extra hub-type devices, avoiding the risk of loss for those types of devices and freeing up an HDMI port.
Through this connected hotel TV, guests receive a customized welcome message when they arrive. During their stay, they also get tailored recommendations for local attractions and targeted promotions for on-site amenities. The magic behind this the integration of the Samsung LYNK Cloud technology.
As a centralized and secure cloud platform, LYNK Cloud also provides a way for the hotel to manage all the TV and digital signages across the property with just a few clicks. With it, the hotel can deliver personalized messages, receive real-time notifications and rely on centralized management. In fact, Samsung LYNK Cloud can enable hotel operators to manage multiple properties from anywhere.
“Guests appreciate the convenience of ordering services directly from the in-room TV, and many have highlighted how easy it is to stream their own content, just like they would at home They’ve shared that the technology enhances their comfort and makes their stay feel more personalised,” said Gepak.
Samsung LYNK Cloud can also provide insights into guests’ content usage and uncover marketing insights that can lead to more personalized services, potentially increasing revenue.
Leslie Goh, Regional Director, Head of Enterprise Business, Samsung Southeast Asia & Oceania, said: “When I stay in especially older hotels, the in-room TV is often unused these days as it is just not easily connectable to today’s powerful smartphones and devices. Today, hotels can transform guest experiences immediately by anchoring the in-room TV as the centre of information, services and entertainment.”. Delivering a Real Impact with Digital Displays
For guests, the Samsung displays have made a meaningful contribution to how they experience the five-star hospitality that The Apurva Kempinski Bali offers.
“A well-curated digital experience strengthens trust, enhances convenience, and nurtures lasting connections embodying our philosophy of delivering Indonesian grace with European craftsmanship in every touchpoint,” Gepak said.
In other words, guests can enjoy the digital convenience and access they expect on their travels, while embracing the natural beauty and rich culture that Bali is famous for.
The transformation that The Apurva Kempinski Bali has undergone is a testament to the impact that highly-connected and versatile displays deliver in the hospitality industry. At a time when travellers are seeking new experiences that are engaging and rewarding, Samsung’s new technologies bring a new dimension to luxury.
Kelly Zakaria, the hotel’s IT Manager, said: “This project showcases how connected displays, cloud platforms, and thoughtful design can elevate an already extraordinary property into a digitally empowered masterpiece — setting a new benchmark for luxury hospitality in Asia.”
Key to The Apurva Kempinski Bali’s successful transformation is finding the right technology vendor. “Working with Samsung has been a truly outstanding experience for us. They guided us through every step from consultation and technical setup to post-installation support – with clarity and care,” Zakaria added.”
