Galaxy for work: The magic touch to your business

As a business owner, it can be challenging to find smart devices that are secure and powerful enough to run business software, while keeping your team connected at all times. But, with business devices that run on the Android operating system (OS), business leaders can put these worries to rest.

Devices — like Samsung Galaxy phones — that run on Android OS are the best choice for mobile workers because they possess innovative features and functions that optimise work processes, enhance security, and boost productivity.

The Android OS is the key to business success. Read on to find out how your business can benefit from this popular operating system.

1. Made for everyone

As of August 2022, Android OS is the leading mobile operating system worldwide too with just over 70% of the market share.¹ This is largely because Android devices run on an open-source platform, allowing numerous developers to create and launch apps² in the Google Play Store with minor limitations. Given this impressive feat, it is no surprise that developers opt to create apps for Android devices.

Mobile workers who own Android devices, like Galaxy phones, have access to an extensive range of apps that augment business productivity and growth. In fact, there are currently over 2.6 million apps available to Android users in the Google Play Store.³

The openness and inclusiveness of Android OS give users the opportunity to explore countless apps enabling them to find ones that best suit their business needs. With an open-source platform, apps are more likely to get updates and bug fixes at a faster pace as they have the largest developer community who work on maintaining these apps. This paves the way for enhanced productivity with minimal disruption to work processes.

2. Enhanced user experience

Gone are the days when mobile workers needed to own two devices to separate their personal lives from their work lives. With Android devices and Google, users can customise their work profiles to prevent their personal data from intertwining with work data.

The recent launch of Android 13, the latest version of Android OS, has brought along updates that further improve the user experience for work profile users. For starters, you can now configure apps to open with either your work profile or your personal profile. This means that recommended content on apps, such as Facebook, Youtube, or Google Chrome, will be based on data from either profile, instead of a mix between the two. Similarly, you will be able to switch between work and personal photo galleries, allowing you to grant access to selected files rather than your entire media gallery.⁴ By clearly distinguishing between work and personal data and apps, users enjoy a healthier work-life balance, along with improved digital well-being that helps boost employee retention as employees feel valued by their employers.

To further enrich the user experience, Samsung and Android collaborated to create One UI — a simplified and uncluttered custom interface for Galaxy phones. One UI has multiple features that increase productivity, especially for mobile workers.

Its recent update, One UI 4.0, offers two improved features that boost productivity. The first feature is the newly updated Calendar widget that comes with a more compact and professional look, giving you a better overview of monthly and daily appointments and tasks. This widget can be placed on your home screen and lock screen, so you don’t have to worry about missing an appointment.

The next feature, Multi-window and Split View, is a new function that lets you open two apps simultaneously — either in an up-down view or a pop-up view. With this update, you can configure your Android device to allow Multi-window and Split View for all apps, including ones that do not offer this feature.

The Android OS improves overall productivity by enhancing its user experience through work profiles and One UI customisation.

3. Better security for safer devices

In 2021, businesses found themselves spending more on cybersecurity measures to prevent data breaches and stop hacking attempts. This massive investment in cybersecurity is partially fueled by safety concerns regarding the storage of company data on personal devices. But with Android business devices, business owners can rest assured knowing that their company’s private and confidential data is always safeguarded. As a matter of fact, Gartner reported that Samsung Knox has the highest security rating, scoring 27 out of 30 in their Mobile OS and Device Security: A Comparison of Platforms 2019 report.⁵

With Android Enterprise Recommended (AER), business devices are verified and tested by Google to ensure that safety features are able to handle the latest threats. Additionally, these business devices come with the Android OS built-in security systems, Android Enterprise Security and Google Play Protect.

The Android Enterprise Security system is built into the hardware and software of Android business devices to block threats, while Google Play Protect scans and verifies billions of apps to ensure that they are free from malware, or other malicious code, before releasing them in the Google Play Store.

To ramp up security efforts, Samsung Galaxy phones come with an additional layer of security — Samsung Knox — which offers multi-layered hardware and software security features that are enabled from the moment you take the phone out of the box. In addition, Samsung Knox also offers Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) solutions such as Knox E-FOTA and Knox Manage to supercharge your business.

Knox E-FOTA allows IT administrators to control the version of Android OS that is used in their enterprise devices to ensure that in-house business apps can run smoothly. With Knox Manage, IT administrators can manage an entire fleet of enterprise devices with flexibility and granularity. This allows you to set custom security measures to prevent the unauthorised sharing of private and confidential company data.

4. Improved productivity with strategic partnerships

Since hybrid working has become popular for most employees, real-time collaboration has never been more important. To aid in this, Google created Jamboard — a virtual dry-erase board — for Google Meet.⁶ This feature is particularly useful on Galaxy phones that are compatible with a stylus, such as the S Pen, as it allows collaborators to brainstorm ideas and illustrate them through drawings in real-time. This means that employees situated in different locations would still possess the means to clearly communicate their ideas to each other.

In addition to that, Android devices come with pre-installed business apps from both Google and Microsoft.⁷ This means that you won’t have to spend time searching and downloading these apps on each device. For instance, you can log into Google Drive on your Galaxy phone and it will automatically log into the rest of Google Workspace apps, such as Google Docs, Google Meet, and Google Slides, across all your Android devices.

Samsung Galaxy phones are made for businesses with a diverse portfolio driven by innovation and top-notch security. Our devices offer seamless integration with other Android devices to allow for better set-up and system management.
