Learn how to update your Samsung account country or region settings via computer or mobile browser. Discover restrictions, supported devices, and what happens after changing regions.

Changing the country or region linked to your Samsung account is a straightforward process, but there are important restrictions and considerations to keep in mind. This guide explains how to make the change, what limitations apply, and what happens to your devices and services afterward.

1. Why Change Your Samsung Account Country or Region?

Users often need to update their Samsung account region due to relocation, travel, or access to region-specific services. However, changing your region can affect your account's functionality, including service availability, purchase history visibility, and device synchronization.

2. How to Change Your Samsung Account Country or Region

Currently, you can only change your Samsung account country or region via a web browser on a computer or mobile device. Follow these steps:

  1. Open your preferred web browser and go to account.samsung.com.
  2. Log in to your Samsung account using your credentials.
  3. Click on your profile icon in the top-right corner.
  4. Select Profile from the dropdown menu.
  5. Scroll down and click Edit personal information.
  6. Find the Country or region field and click on it.
  7. Select your desired country or region from the list.
  8. Review the information displayed on the screen, check the confirmation box, and click Change.

Note: As of now, there is no dedicated app for changing your Samsung account country or region on mobile devices. However, a future update expected in December 2023 may introduce this feature.

3. What Happens After Changing Your Samsung Account Region?

When you change your Samsung account country or region, several changes occur:

- All devices linked to your Samsung account will be signed out, and you'll need to sign in again.

- Some services, such as SmartThings or region-specific apps, may become unavailable or require reconfiguration.

- Your purchase history will only display transactions made in the current region. To view older purchases, you must revert to the original region (subject to a 6-month waiting period).

4. Supported Samsung Galaxy Devices

This process applies to all Samsung Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S25, Galaxy S26, Galaxy Z Fold, Galaxy Z Flip, and Galaxy A series. Ensure your device is updated to the latest software version for optimal compatibility.

5. Restrictions on Changing Samsung Account Country or Region

Certain conditions may prevent you from changing your Samsung account region:

- You cannot revert to a previously used region within 6 months (180 days).

- Family group accounts and child accounts cannot change their region.

- Users with a Galaxy Store seller account must submit a change request through the Samsung Customer Center.

- Accounts linked to a European country may face restrictions due to GDPR processing.

- Users with a phone number ID only cannot change their region.

- Accounts under a country's minimum age limit cannot change regions.

- Users with a Chinese account cannot change their region, and non-China accounts cannot switch to China Mainland.

6. Additional Things to Check

Before changing your region, ensure you:

  1. Back up important data on your Samsung devices.
  2. Check if region-specific services you rely on will remain accessible.
  3. Verify that your payment methods are compatible with the new region.
