Updated Consumer Guidance for the Galaxy Note7

Further to the announcement made last week, Samsung Gulf Electronics confirms that beginning today consumers who have a Galaxy Note7 device can now exchange their phone for a Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, or receive a refund.

Exchange the Galaxy Note7 for a Galaxy S7 edge with refund of the price difference (in the form of cash or a gift voucher) at any of the locations* listed below.

*Kindly note that the exchange timings in the UAE is between 11:00 and 20:00.

Obtain a full refund, by bringing the Galaxy Note7 and the original receipt, at the point of purchase. Consumers who have a replacement Galaxy Note7 device, or do not have a valid purchase receipt or have questions related to the process are advised to call Samsung’s call centre on the below numbers and we will help you:

Before returning the Galaxy Note7, customers should back-up their data, complete a factory reset to delete personal information and power down their device.

Notice about boarding flights carrying Galaxy Note7

Multiple airlines have prohibited the carriage of Galaxy Note7 devices on-board flights for both carry-on and checked baggage. Airline passengers will not be permitted to take a Galaxy Note7 on a flight, either switched on or turned-off.

No other Samsung device is affected by this ban.

Samsung Gulf Electronics apologises for this inconvenience. We are working with airlines and airports to arrange customer service points within high-traffic terminals where customers, who are unaware of the Galaxy Note7 ban on flights, can arrange an alternative device at the airport.

We are working with relevant regulatory bodies to investigate the recently reported cases involving the Galaxy Note7. For the benefit of consumers' safety, we stopped sales and exchanges of the Galaxy Note7 and have consequently decided to stop production.

We remain committed to working diligently with appropriate regulatory authorities to take all necessary steps to resolve the situation. Consumers with either an original Galaxy Note7 or replacement Galaxy Note7 device should power down and stop using the device.

In the Gulf region, all Galaxy Note7 owners will be offered one of the following:

      √  Exchange the Galaxy Note7 for a Galaxy S7 edge with refund of the price difference

      √  Obtain a full refund

We are putting in place a process to facilitate the exchange and refund of devices and will inform the Galaxy Note7 owners of next steps at the earliest.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may cause for customers and partners who have trusted and waited for the Galaxy Note7.
