What to do if contacts in your device are erased automatically?

To recover lost contacts, you can restore from a backup, sync with Google or Samsung Cloud. Prevent future loss by regularly backing up and syncing contacts.

If you're concerned about your contacts being synced with other devices, there are steps you can take to block this synchronization. Here are the following steps to do so:

1 Navigate to Settings > Google > Manage your Google Account > Security > Your devices > sign out all the unused devices
2 Navigate to Settings > Google > Settings for Google apps > Google Contacts sync > turn off ‘Automatically back up & sync device contacts’ function
1 Google website: If you deleted a contact in the last 30 days, you can move it out of your Trash
  • Access Contact Google on PC internet > At the top right, click Settings and then Undo changes > Choose a time to go back to > Click Confirm.

  • Access Contact Google on PC internet > At the left, click Trash > At the top, click Recover
2 Samsung device: If there are some contact lists in the Trash deleted within the last 15 days, you can restore those
  • Navigate to ‘Contacts’ app > More(navigation menu) > Trash > Edit > select contact lists > click ‘Restore all

Easy Steps to Display All Contacts or Google Account Contacts on Your Device

  • Navigate to ‘Contacts’ app > Navigation menu > tab ‘All contacts’ or one of Google Accounts

In case of using the same Google Account on multiple devices (A, B) or turning on the ‘Automatically back up & sync device contacts’ function, some of the contacts may be deleted.

  • If your contact information is deleted from another device (B) where your Google account is logged in or there is a synchronization problem, contacts also can be deleted on the current device (A) as changed or deleted Google contact information on other devices are synchronized to the server.

  • Deleted contacts will be kept on the Google server for 30 days, so please execute ‘Undo changes’ or recover the contacts from the Trash.

  • If you need it, please block contact synchronization with other devices on your Google Account.

  • Temporarily, you can recover contact information already deleted through the following method.

  • In case of turning on the ‘Automatically back up & sync device contacts’ function, the contact in the device is automatically moved to the ‘Google Account’ contact. So, they might be shown as some of the contacts are deleted if contacts are shown by phone, not by All contacts.

  • You need to turn off the ‘Automatically back up & sync device contacts’ function, it may be shown as some of the contacts are deleted.

  • It may be shown that some of the contacts have been deleted.
