Make your Samsung TV suitable for children by using the parental settings.

Last Update date : 2024-01-09

While there are many kid-friendly shows and movies, there is also a lot of inappropriate material. Fortunately, your Samsung TV, Odyssey Ark gaming screen, and projector all have parental controls that allow you to block certain over-the-air material based on ratings and lock down any applications so that children cannot access them.

Follow the below steps:

You can limit your child's viewing to programs rated G or PG. To block material on your television or projector, go to Settings, then Broadcasting. Enter the PIN after selecting Program Rating Lock Settings. (the default PIN is "0000"). Turn on Program classification Lock, then choose either TV Rating or Movie Rating and a classification category to lock. To view any program at that level or higher, a PIN will be required. Select the lock symbol to unblock a rating category, and the lock icon under ALL to unblock all rating categories in a row.

On 2022 Samsung TVs (B models) and the Freestyle projector the steps are slightly different.

1 Go to All Settings.
2 Choose General & Privacy.
3 Go to Parental Settings.
4 Then select Program Rating Lock Settings.

Certain apps on your TV or projector may be aimed at adults or contain content you don't want your kid to see. You can lock the app so that you can continue to use it by entering a PIN, but your kid will not be able to.

Navigate to APPS, then to Settings. Select Lock/open after selecting an app to lock or open. Enter the PIN – the default PIN is "0000," but you should change it so that your children cannot predict it. Navigate to and pick Settings to change the PIN. Select General, then System Manager, and finally Change PIN.

You can create a kid's profile in the Netflix app and set a PIN to restrict movies and TV shows based on their classification. Hulu allows you to establish a separate profile for your children, where they can watch appropriate programs in the Kids Hub.

Vudu goes above and beyond by not only allowing you to establish a PIN code to block content based on rating but also by providing a Kids mode.

HBO Max and Prime Video also allow you to establish a PIN to prevent movies and programs from playing based on their ratings.
