A normal ice cube from a Samsung fridge should be a cloudy white color and be shaped like an orange slice. Samsung ice makers use rapid freezing technology which traps small amounts of minerals, oxygen, and nitrogen inside the ice cube, giving it a cloudy appearance. Therefore, it's normal for the ice to be white and foggy.

Cloudy ice cubes

The minerals in your water are not harmful and are more common in areas with hard water.

Small or shattered ice cubes in the ice bucket are caused by low water pressure. This occurs when the ice maker doesn't get enough water before it freezes and dumps ice into the bucket.

Small ice cubes

The minimum required water pressure for the fridge is 20 psi. If your model has a dispenser, you can check the pressure easily by dispensing water for 10 seconds, and confirming you get at least 3/4 a cup.

To increase your water pressure:

1 Make sure your water supply valve is open all the way and that the water supply line is not pinched or kinked.
2 If your model has a water dispenser, remove the water filter and see if the water pressure improves. You can either use the dispenser or check the size of the next batch of ice. If removing the filter fixes the water pressure issue, then your water filter needs to be replaced.
3 If the ice cubes are still small, even with a new filter, then contact a plumber for assistance in increasing your water pressure.

It's not normal to see dark particles or flecks in your ice cubes. Dirty ice can be caused by an expired or damaged water filter, dirt in the water supply (which can happen if there was recent work done on the water lines in the home or neighborhood), or a damaged ice bucket.

Dirty ice cubes

If the water supply has dirt in it, you can flush a few gallons through to clean it out. Contact your plumber if this doesn't work.

Then, inspect the ice maker and its parts for any visible damage. Next, replace the water filter.

When ice isn't being dispensed regularly, it can clump together in the ice bucket. Clumped ice may have trouble dispensing because it can get stuck in the chute. Also, clumped ice can cause the ice maker to think that the bucket is full, which causes the production to stop.

Clumping ice cubes

Make time every other week to dump the ice out, so the ice maker can produce fresh ice.

If your ice cubes are coming out slushy or frosty, the most likely cause is frost on your ice bucket.

Slushy or frosty ice

If you fix this issue, the ice cubes should return back to normal.
