The wireless enterprise environment has faced a new paradigm shift with the era of the Smart Device. Until recently, the wireless LAN was mainly recognized as one of the ideal complements to wire communications; however, the demand for wireless LAN has risen largely owing to the explosive expansion of smart devices. The convenience of wireless communication, however, has some old issues. For example, the use of the Industrial-Scientific-Medical (ISM) band causes interference with other wireless devices (wireless mouse, Bluetooth devices, RFID devices, wireless phones, microwave ovens, etc.). It is true that to address such issues, WLAN vendors have conducted large amounts of research and made great investments in interference avoidance technology, performance improvement technology and security, and put new technologies on the market; and based on such efforts, they have engaged in marketing and sales activities.
Then, is it possible to deal with a paradigm shift occurred with the advent of smart devices only with these technologies? Unfortunately, new and unexpected issues come to the fore. One big issue, which is simple and was easily anticipated by everyone but imposes great effects, is the increasing number of wireless devices owned by a single person. According to statistics, every person owns approximately 2.4 smart devices. This implies that it will be difficult to digest the increasing number of devices unless there is a larger number of Access Point (AP) or one AP handles more devices. Next, 'Mobility', which is one of the greatest features of smart devices, also cannot be overlooked. It is unusual for work to be done with a laptop in a hallway or in a stairwell even if the laptop is one of wireless devices like smart devices. However, smart devices are frequently used to support data communication such as working through the Internet, e-mail account and groupware while on the move. Moreover, such smart devices become a substitute for conventional wire telephones as they provide the voice call function.

Even though the functions of smart devices have gradually improved, there are some limitations that will need to be dealt with before they can be on a par with the wireless performance of personal computers and laptops. As an example, laptops support up to 3X3 Multiple-Input and Multiple-Output (MIMO) while smart devices mostly support Single-Input and Single-Output (SISO) and its transmission power is very weak as well. In other words, smart devices have low throughput and are not easy to connect with AP compared to personal computers or laptops.
Lastly, despite the advancement of the standard of 802.11i (WPA2) to enhance standardization of conventional encryption and authentication, the establishment of a Wireless Intrusion Prevention System (WIPS) would be essential considering the current endless stream of more sophisticated wireless attacks.

AirMove – Controller makes a judgment
The Wi-Fi handover of conventional systems is configured to scan other APs and connect to an appropriate AP when a reception signal is detected below a certain threshold value. This technology basically requires a scan time to search another AP. Therefore, a seamless handover cannot be fundamentally implemented even by applying the standard (802.11r, etc.) for reducing the scanning time.
Samsung's AirMove technology, however, adopts the handover technology for LTE and allows the AP controller to determine the perfect handover time and target AP for handover. With this technology, you can enjoy seamless service for voice calls and video playing and guarantees throughput two-times and over compared to general Wi-Fi handover so as to provide mobility on par with mobile communication services.
AirEqualizer – Only works for particular minority devices? Fair Wireless World!
With the development of wireless LAN technologies, wireless devices for enterprises use various connection modes (802.11a/b/g/n). In addition, in terms of the types of traffic serviced (TCP, UDP, etc.), countless types of traffic such as groupware, video and voice files, printer and CAD files are also serviced through wireless communication.

As for successful establishment of enterprise wireless LAN, optimized cell design and sustainable quality maintenance are important factors as much as excellence of system. No matter how great system is introduced, if a cell is incorrectly designed due to misunderstanding of the establishment environment or a cell fails to respond to additional RF environment changes even after it is well designed, the successful wireless environment cannot be created.
