Q. How is the Items tab different from the Devices tab?

A. The Items tab includes tracker devices, like SmartTags, and other items that require device registration through the SmartThings app. The Devices tab includes devices linked to a Samsung account (phones, tablets, Galaxy Books, etc.), as well as items connected to the parent device using BLE (Buds, watches, S Pens, etc.).

Q. When I enter the Items tab, why does it ask me to download the SmartThings app?

A. In order to use a tracker, such as a SmartTag, it must first be registered in SmartThings. SmartTag registration and management functions are provided through SmartThings, and Samsung Find can then provide the location and sharing functions of any registered SmartTags.

Q. I can’t locate my watch in the Samsung Find app when I'm on Bluetooth, or the same Wi-Fi network. I can locate all my other devices. Everything is registered in my Samsung account, all permissions are granted, and all settings completed. Searching nearby doesn't work either. What’s causing the issue?

A. Please check if your watch is shown in your Samsung Account device list (Settings > Samsung account > Devices). If it is not on the list, please check the device registration again. If it is not found in other places, as well as the Samsung Find app, then additional information may be required.

Q. Can I selectively hide my location, or my device location without telling anyone? I have a device that I want to keep private, including from my family.

A. If you have multiple devices registered using the same Samsung account, it is not possible to accept or reject sharing on a device-by-device basis once family location and device information sharing is activated in Samsung Find. Sharing can only be accepted or rejected for all devices registered to your Samsung account.

Q. Is my location available to others? Can anyone monitor my location? Can my location be continuously monitored by shared members?

A. Your location is only shared if you accept a request to share your location information with another party. If you do not accept location sharing requests directly, your location information will not be shared with family members.

A. Consent to use location information must first be enabled on the device you want to locate. Consent cannot be set remotely, if consent to use the location is disabled, you cannot use Samsung Find app to locate your device.

Also, some device functions on the Devices tab and Items tab may be limited, except for locating a lost device, locking the device to prevent unauthorised use, and functions to protect the owner’s rights and interests.

Q. What's different about the Samsung Find website compared to the old SmartThings Find website?

A. The SmartThings Find website only offered device location for you and and your child. The Samsung Find website allows you to check your device location, as well as the location of all family account devices that have been set up for location sharing. You can also ring shared family account devices to help find them (the ringing feature is not supported for SmartTag devices).
Please note that some SmartThings Find website features are still in development and will be updated regularly.
