How to send your location to a friend

By Samsung,  03.09.2015.

Find and share location information with ease through your Samsung mobile device.

In the Gulf, we're very used to giving information about our locations with references to landmarks: "Take left from the mosque, then right from the stadium, and then left again from the petrol station and you'll see my building." These types of directions can often be confusing with the series of left and right turns to remember – especially when there are unexpected diversions and detours on the way.

Over time, however, people have increased their use of GPS technology to locate and follow directions to their destinations. New tools and platforms have also emerged that help improve navigation. In Dubai, for instance, the municipality has recently launched an app, called Makani, to help people find locations within the emirate. The geographic address system allots a 10-digit number to locations, such as buildings and public places, to make it easier to find and navigate to them.

With such technological improvements, you no longer need to give lengthy directions to your friends when you're inviting them for a party. With a smartphone within your reach, you can save time and effort by sharing your location through an SMS or instant message. Your friends can use the map to understand where it is or follow GPS to get there.

If they own a Samsung mobile device, they can simply instruct S Voice to navigate to a certain location. If you're meeting up at a local restaurant, they can use the app to find it and follow directions through voice commands, such as "Navigate to [location name]."

On your Galaxy Note device, such as Note5, you can take a screenshot of the map, write notes or directions on it with the help of your S Pen, and share it with your friends for simple guidance to the location. You can also use an Action Memo to search for your location before sending it. Simply slide your S Pen out and select Action Memo. Write the location's name on the memo, tap on the Link to action icon and select the map/location icon to show you the location on the map.

Follow these straightforward steps to share your location with your peers with ease.
