What is the Unified Daemon application?

The Unified Daemon application provides support for a number of different apps on your device. These include the Weather, Yahoo Finance and Yahoo News apps amongst others. The data is used by apps such as the Alarm, S Planner (calendar) app and the camera.

Can I stop it from using up my data allowance?

Data usage of Unified Daemon will vary according to how often those apps refresh. If you want to reduce data usage by an app using the Unified Daemon, lower its refresh rate in that app's settings.
