Have you got the latest firmware on the machine? Otherwise, back up you recordings, and re-Format the drive.

The red circle recording symbol is permanently showing on the FAR left side of the TV guide next to 'ITV' (Not next to any particular programme). How do I remove it, and why is it there? I think it's stopping me from being able to delete any programmes I've recorded as for some reason I can no longer delete anything.

I would like to replace the 320gb hard drive with a 500gb or possibly a 1 Terrabyte one. Can you please advise if they are both suitable and how they should be formatted, ie NTFS or FAT32. Is it just a straight replacement inside the case, thanks

Should work with either mentioned, dont format via Windows, just insert the raw drive, and format via the machine, Format option. I have done this on other makes of PVR, with no problem.

My BD-E8500M seems to freeze up on a random basis. The only way to fix it is to unplug it and put the plug back in. I have read it was a firmware issue when recording two shows while in standby. So I turned standby off. Still happens. Even happened while I was watching a recorded show. the fan at the back is working, the unit is well ventilated and doesnt appear to be overheating. I ran the hard drive test from the menu and all appears fine there too. So I am at a loss now as to why this happens :( I searched google for answers and found this site. My BD-E8500M has a USB port at the back too, and I noticed some BD-E8500Ms dont! So I am unsure as to the exact model number as mine has BD-E8500M on the sticker at the back. I hope I can get a reply with a solution to why this unit keeps freezing randomly. Many thanks.
