Electronic industry citizenship coalition

Samsung Electronics strives to implement our corporate philosophy, ‘social contribution through the best products and services’ since our foundation. We do our best to not only produce the best products and services, but also take responsibility in our roles as corporate citizens creating a better society.

In December 2007 the company joined EICC(Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition) which has high standards regarding working conditions, ethics of the business, safety and health of workers, and the environment that can be implemented across whole supply chain.

Samsung Electronics supports EICC Code of Conduct and seeks to conform to the Code and its implementation methods across the company and its suppliers. The company adopted EICC Code of Conduct as its Supplier Code of Conduct and October 2008 started to require its suppliers to acknowledge and implement the Code. In 2010, we trained 567 suppliers in Korea as well as countries in Southeast/west Asia based on EICC Code of Conduct. 1,109 companies cumulatively signed up for compliance agreement of EICC Code of Conduct by 2010.

Conflict Mineral issue has became a significant agenda in electronic industry due to increasing violence in Congo and adjacent countries in Africa. EICC takes an initiative on conflict mineral issue to formulate guidelines collaboratively with NGO, government and companies.
