Prioritising Student Wellbeing at Shri Ram Universal School with Samsung Climate Solutions
Noida, Uttar Pradesh
Project Overview
The Shri Ram Universal School (TSUS) in Noida is part of the esteemed Shri Ram Group, renowned for its child-centric philosophy and commitment to value-based education. With world-class infrastructure and a focus on creating a nurturing environment for holistic development, the Noida campus required a climate control solution that aligned with its dedication to student well-being and safety.
The project aimed to cool classrooms of average size 800 sq. ft, necessitating a system that could provide consistent performance across the room while accommodating various architectural ceiling designs.
Challenges
Student Health
A significant concern was "AC chills" caused by cold drafts. This was compounded by thermal shock, caused when transitioning from 43°C outdoor heat to a classroom temperature of 24°C.
Uneven Cooling
Large classrooms often suffer from "hot spots" or "uneven cooling", leading to discomfort during long classroom hours.
Aesthetic Flexibility
The administration required a solution that would maintain a professional appearance, regardless of whether they opted for exposed, grid or gypsum ceilings.
The Samsung Solution
Cold-Draft free
classrooms
The 360 Cassette’s bladeless system eliminates “AC Chills” with cold draft free cooling, while “thermal buffer Zone” prevents thermal shock by transitioning gradually from extreme heat.
Efficient and Intelligent Operations
The DVM S2 VRF system utilises active AI pressure control to learn usage patterns for more efficient operation.
Architectural
Freedom
The aesthetic “edgeless” design of the 360 Cassette enhances the appearance of the ceiling.
Zero-Draft for Comfortable Learning Environment
The bladeless discharge system in the 360 Cassette prevents "AC chills". Instead of relying on physical blades that push air directly onto students' desks, it uses an internal booster fan that expels cool air parallel to the ceiling. It creates an even cooling effect with a diameter of 9.8 m, ensuring that students remain comfortable without experiencing harsh, direct cold drafts.
Minimising Thermal Shock with Controlled System
An advanced control system maintains corridors at 27–30°C, creating a "thermal buffer zone" for students transitioning from the outdoor heat of 35–43°C to classrooms which are at 24–26°C. This cooling solution along with installation of Treated Fresh Air (TFA) units in the classrooms aim to protect children's health.
Efficient and Intelligent Operations
The DVM S2 VRF system powers the entire school, utilising advanced AI pressure control to analyse usage patterns. It automatically adjusts as the classroom fills and empties throughout the day, ensuring optimal efficiency and consistent comfort.
Architectural Freedom
The innovative circular design of the 360 Cassette offered the school complete aesthetic freedom. Its "edgeless" appearance enabled installation in any ceiling, whether exposed or false, while preserving a clean and modern interior for the learning environment.
Conclusion
By moving beyond traditional cooling methods and prioritising students' needs, Shri Ram Universal School and Samsung have set a new standard for climate control in education. With bladeless 360-degree airflow and intelligent transition zones, they have created a safer, healthier and more focused environment for the next generation of learners.
