Samsung Delivers Reliable Cooling for High-Volume Food Processing Unit at Havmor Ice Creams
Pune, Maharashtra
Project Overview
Havmor Ice Creams Pvt. Ltd, now known as Lotte India Corporation Pvt. Ltd (Havmor Brand), is a leading name in the milk-based ice cream industry, producing millions of litres of ice cream annually. Its facility in Pune is a large-scale production unit designed to support high-volume operations while adhering to strict quality and process standards. In such settings, maintaining controlled indoor conditions is essential, not only for comfort but also for ensuring consistent production and product quality. Temperature regulation is a critical factor for products like ice cream. Samsung delivered a comprehensive HVAC solution by installing its advanced VRF system on both the production floor and administrative sections.
Challenges
Need for Stable Environment
The main challenge was to maintain a consistent climate across the production floor and the administrative block. In food processing, even minor temperature fluctuations can compromise product quality.
Uneven Cooling and System Downtime
In a food processing facility, any localised hot spots or system downtime poses a critical risk that can spoil product batches, halt production lines and severely impact the facility's output.
Intensive Energy Demand
Continuous operations result in significant electricity consumption. The challenge was to manage extreme cooling loads while minimising overhead costs. This situation required a system with a superior Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) to maintain high-volume output without increasing expenses.
Integrated Project Management
Coordinating multiple vendors for design, supply and installation often results in technical gaps and delays in the timeline. The challenge was to ensure seamless accountability throughout the entire project lifecycle.
The Samsung Solution
Uniform Air Distribution
The 4-Way Cassette AC units provide uniform air distribution across various zones.
AHU Compatibility for Large Spaces
Seamlessly integrating the VRF system with Air Handling Units for large spaces, along with a built-in standby system, helped reduce downtime.
Maximised
Efficiency
The DVM S2 outdoor units deliver powerful performance while maintaining energy efficiency.
Comprehensive Execution
From design to installation, a complete solution was offered.
Uniform Air Distribution
The WindFree™ 4Way Cassette AC provides even air distribution across various zones in the production facility. The 4Way outlet effectively cools every corner of the room. Additionally, the innovative blade design minimises blind spots at the corners of the panel, allowing it to cover nearly a full 360° around the indoor unit.
Maximised Efficiency
The enlarged heat exchanger in the DVM S2 (VRF system) has a significantly larger transfer area, allowing faster heat exchange. An optimised refrigerant path aligns with the airflow speed to enhance heat transfer efficiency. Additionally, the aerodynamic multi-serration fan generates more airflow while consuming less electricity by minimising air turbulence. Furthermore, a 7th-generation insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) adjusts current and frequency to match the system's needs, thereby reducing energy loss due to electrical conduction.
AHU Compatibility for Large Spaces
Integrating the VRF system with AHUs enables efficient climate control in large areas such as production and packaging zones. The standby AHU is scheduled to ensure minimal operational downtime for the system.
Comprehensive Execution
Samsung offered a comprehensive solution, from design to installation, with dedicated project support. The solution was designed and executed seamlessly, ensuring alignment with both layout and operational requirements.
Conclusion
The installed system delivers reliable and consistent cooling in a high-demand production environment. It maintains temperature stability even during peak operations, ensuring uninterrupted workflows. By combining AHUs and Cassette units, the system effectively adapts to different zones within the facility, offering comprehensive coverage without unnecessary overdesign. Additionally, the high-capacity outdoor units and optimised design enhance energy performance over time.
Why This Matters?
In the food processing industry, controlling the indoor climate is crucial for maintaining product quality and ensuring operational efficiency. This project emphasises how a well-designed HVAC system can facilitate continuous production and uphold process standards. Careful execution simplifies the implementation of large industrial projects. For large-scale facilities, choosing the right cooling solution is essential for overall performance.
