How to record your screen on your Samsung Galaxy device

Want to record what appears on your phone screen as a video? With the built-in Screen recorder feature, you can easily record your screen without installing a separate app. Save important moments or screens you want to share conveniently as videos.

Note:

  • On Android 10 with One UI 2.5, screen recording is limited to up to 1 hour or 4 GB. On Android 11 with One UI 3.0 or later, there is no file size or recording time limit.
  • Due to copyright protection, screen recording may not work for some photos and videos.
  • Screen recorder may not be supported depending on the device model. If your device does not support the feature, try installing a screen recording app from the Play Store or Galaxy Store.

How to record your screen from the Quick panel

You can start screen recording from the Quick panel on your Galaxy device. Move to the screen you want to record, then tap the Screen recorder button to begin recording. You can also choose to record the full screen or a selected area and configure options such as audio recording and showing tap locations. Recording starts after a 3-second countdown appears. To pause or stop recording, use the pause or stop buttons in the toolbar at the top right of the screen.

01. Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Quick panel.

02. Tap Screen recorder.

03. Select the recording settings shown on the screen.

04. Tap Start recording. Recording starts after a countdown of 3 seconds.

How to change Screen recorder settings

You can adjust screen recording settings, such as sound, video quality, and video size.

01. Tap Settings.

04. Adjust recording settings as needed.

Screen recording file save location

After recording ends, you can check the recorded file in the Screen recordings folder in the Gallery app.

The default save location for screen recordings is Internal storage > DCIM > Screen recordings. You can change the save location in the Screen recorder settings.

Note: Menu names, paths, and screen layouts may vary depending on your device model, software version, or app version.
