Tips to caring for the Galaxy Z Fold3 or Galaxy Z Flip3

Here are some tips on how to keep your Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 devices in good condition: Since it is produced using foldable glass substance, it needs some extra care and maintenance to perform at its best. Follow the important tips outlined below and your foldable phone will continue looking and performing great.

It is not recommended to apply pressure on the main screen or press the front camera lens with a hard or sharp object, such as a pen or fingernails. Please be aware that excessive pressure or force on the screen while using a tool may result in scratches or damages.

  • It is not recommended to use a pen to touch the screen.
  • It is not recommended to use your fingernails to touch the screen.

Note:

When using a Galaxy Z Fold3, using the Galaxy S Pen Pro or stylus pens not designed for Galaxy Z Fold3 may damage the display. For Galaxy Z Fold3, we recommend that you use the S Pen Fold edition that is designed exclusively for Galaxy Z Fold3.

Cards, coins, keys and other foreign objects between the screen may cause screen damage when closing. 

Foreign objects between the screen may scratch or puncture the screen. We recommend that you fold the device before putting it in or storing it. Be sure not to store the device unfolded as there is a chance that another object could scratch or puncture the screen. Also, using an object or your finger to open the screen may cause damage to the screen. We recommend that you open the device by touching the sides of the device.

  • Do not close the device while there are foreign objects in between the screen.
  • It is not recommended to open the screen by using a finger in between the screen.

It is not recommended that you unfold the device before putting it in or storing it.

Note:

  • Credit cards, bankbooks, security cards, entrance or parking lot passes and other objects with magnetic components can become damaged or disabled. Medical devices, such as pacemakers or implanted cardioverter defibrillators, can also be affected. Please keep a safe distance from your device at all times.
  • The Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 support IPX8 rated water-resistant. However, care must be taken to maintain the water-resistance of your device and to prevent the damage to your device. In addition, these devices are not dust-resistant. Exposure to small particles, such as sand, may cause damage to the device, such as scratches or dents on the screen.
  • IPX8 is based on test conditions for submersion in up to 1.5 meters of freshwater for up to 30 minutes. Not advised for beach or pool use.
  • Placing film, stickers, or other adhesive materials on the screen may damage the screen. Keep the original protection film and we recommend that you use a Samsung-approved protection film. 

The device has a built-in wireless charging coil. You can charge the battery using a wireless charger. The performance and efficiency of wireless charging can be influenced by the smartphone case you are using. For smooth charging, we recommend that you use an authentic case and authentic wireless charger. Also, placing your device onto the charger in the proper position ensures no overheating and smooth charging.

Galaxy Z Fold3

The wireless charger and the Galaxy Z Fold3 device both have a circular charging coil placed within.

When charging, we recommend you fold the device and place your Galaxy Z Fold3 on the wireless charger so that the Fold3's charging coil, located near the bottom right, is directly on the center of the charger.

By placing your Galaxy Z Fold3 device unfolded or horizontally over the charger, the device may not charge due to an improper connection between the charger and the coil.

Galaxy Z Flip3

The wireless charger and the Galaxy Z Flip3 device both have a circular charging coil placed within.

When charging, we recommend you fold the device and place your Galaxy Z Flip3 on the wireless charger so that the Flip3's charging coil, located near the bottom, is directly on the center of the charger.

By placing your Galaxy Z Flip3 device unfolded and vertically over the charger, the device may not charge due to an improper connection between the charger and the coil.

Note:

  • Wireless chargers sold separately.
  • When the wireless charging coil inside your device is not in position with the charging coil inside the charger, the indicator light will not light up. When your device is properly charging, the indicator light will turn red, then eventually green when fully charged.
  • When charging wirelessly, please ensure that no metallic or magnetic foreign objects get in between an authentic smartphone case and authentic wireless charger. If your device is carrying such an object, such as credit cards, bankbooks, security or entrance cards, keys, or key rings, it may result in damage to the object or the device may not charge properly.
