What to do when your Samsung Galaxy phone screen appears in greyscale or shows inverted colours

If your screen appears in greyscale or the colours look inverted, certain settings such as sleep mode or accessibility features may be enabled. You can adjust or turn off these settings to restore the screen to its normal appearance.

Check how your screen currently looks

Before proceeding, check how your screen is currently displayed. Depending on the screen condition, the cause and solution may vary. Refer to the section below that matches your screen symptoms.

Turn off greyscale in sleep mode

Sleep mode can change your screen to greyscale to help reduce eye strain before bed. If you prefer to see colours while in Sleep mode, you can turn this feature off.

Step 1. Check if greyscale is enabled on your screen and tap Settings.

Step 2. Select Modes and Routines.

Step 4. Select Other actions.

Step 6. Return the screen to its normal display.

Turn off greyscale in Colour correction

Colour correction helps people with difficulty distinguishing colours by adjusting the screen's colour spectrum. If you prefer not to use this function, turn off Colour correction.

Turn off Colour inversion

Colour inversion reverses the colours on your screen to improve visibility for users with low vision. If you prefer not to use this function, turn off colour inversion.

Turn off Colour filter

Colour filters apply a coloured tint over the entire screen to make text easier to read. If you prefer not to use this function, turn off Colour filter.
