Berlin, Germany, August 29, 2008 - Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, today announced its most advanced Blu-ray player. Samsung hopes to reinforce its leadership in the field of premium entertainment devices through the release of the latest player.
The new BD-P2500 provides a significant upgrade from previous models with several new key features designed to enhance the premium audio and visual experience. The new high glossy black new player complements any stylish interior and perfectly fits with Samsung’s HD TVs.
Samsung’s BD-P2500 is the 5th generation Blu-ray player equipped with industry leading image processor HQV (Hollywood Quality Video). With the HQV processor, the BD-P2500 offers increased picture quality by refining image projection, even from non Blu-ray formats.
The sound has also been enhanced by supporting the new HD audio formats (Dolby Digital+, Dolby True HD and DTS-HD HRA) with 7.1 channel output, and the BD-P2500 provides full theater-quality experience.

The new player responds to consumers’ demand for more connectivity and superior functionality. The BD-P2500 will be kept updated by detecting the newest firmware automatically from a Samsung server. Users can access and easily update to the latest Blu-ray profile by Ethernet or USB port.

The integrated BD-Live feature however enables powerful internet-connected activities such as multiplayer gaming, e-commerce, movie trailer and subtitle downloads, and social networking. The BD-P2500 also includes USB 2.0 support and 1 gigabyte of embedded flash memory.
