Recycling Batteries Responsibly

  • The European Directive on Batteries and Accumulators aims to minimise the impact of batteries on the environment and encourage the recovery of the materials they contain. In the UK, regulations on the recycling of batteries and accumulators (rechargeable batteries) were Introduced in 2009. The Waste Batteries Regulations aim to significantly increase UK collection and recycling of used portable batteries from 3% in 2007 to 25% by 2012, rising to at least 45% in 2016.

  • The battery symbol on a product or on its packaging indicates that the product must not be disposed of with general household waste. Instead, it is the consumer’s responsibility to dispose of their waste batteries at a designated collection point so that they can be recycled. The separate collection and recycling of batteries at the time of dispo sal will help to conserve natural resources and ensure that they are recycled in a manner that protects human health and the environment. A comprehensive list of battery recycling centres can be obtained from: www.recycle-more.co.uk

  • All Samsung products that are subject to the Batteries Directive are compliant with the UK battery and accumulator Requirements. In accordance with national law, SAMSUNG Electronics (UK) Ltd is a member of an approved batteries producer compliance scheme. This scheme collects, treats and disposes of batteries on Samsung’s behalf.

Designed almost perfectly

but the button is too hard to press, hold down, position accurately and control the insertion point. Since the stylus is mechanical not powdered bya battery the cost of a spare makes me think that the cost to manufacture (by a 3D printer?) is in the area of a quarter.

I have the original in "hand" and it is already bending. Bought the Note 3 only two days ago. The cost prohibits the purchase of a spare and would make replacement of a broken or lost stylus a begrudged need not to mention the time it takes to get the replacement in hand.

Functional and Easy to Use/Store

The ovoid shape of the pen fits well in my hand, which is larger than average. It is light and easy to use: I use the handwriting recognition features regularly.

Response of the screen when using the pen is quick, without undue delay: much quicker than a standard stylus on other touch screen phones. Storing is easy, since the pen shape guides it into the slot without my having to look first to make sure it is oriented correctly. Accessing the pen can be a little difficult if your fingernails are cut very short: the head of the pen has a groove that makes it easy to pull the pen out when stored. The pen button is a little harder to use and access: it is nicely integrated into the overall shape, but that makes it harder to find via touch only. Tactile feedback when depressing the button is very light without an audible sound, so it is not always clear whether it has been depressed or not. On the other hand, the pressure needed to activate it is comfortable while ensuring that it is not accidentally activated when using the pen for other functions.

A Must Have For Your Note 3

The S Pen is not essential for your Note 3, however it unlocks features that drastically increase the utility of your Note. It works much better thana standard stylus, and is light years ahead of the stylus' of the Pocket PC era.

I am very surprised how fine a line may be drawn on sketches. You can actually handwrite your e-mail now!

I have owned my Note 3 for 1 year and I'm on my 3rd s pen because the tip keeps breaking off & now I need another one but can't find one locally. I've bought 3 defective S pens so I'm hesitant to buy online.

I use them to draw & last night I was asked to paint a photo of a deceased friend and today my s pen broke. It is doing air view even tho air view is turned off. It rights on the phone before I've even touched it & that's not good when doing art. I'm using one of the broken tip pens now but it shoots ink out of the side which is also bad for artwork.
