How to use Smart Calibration on Samsung Smart TV
Smart Calibration is an automated display picture quality calibration app solution which allows users to calibrate Samsung’s display products with a touch of a button from your smartphone.
The features of Smart Calibration
Smart Calibration offers pristine image quality using sensors on your smartphone and selected TVs from 2022 to 2025. On TV, Smart Calibration allows you to precisely adjust the picture quality of the movie screen (Movie mode) to optimise movie viewing.
Smartphone Compatibility List for using this Function
- Among Galaxy models released after January 2019, S, Note, Fold, Z Flip model.
- iPhone products released after January 2019 and with Face ID function.
TV compatibility List for using this Function
Basic and Professional Mode supported:
- 2025 Model TVs: QN990F, QN900F, QN90F, LS03FWW
- 2024 Model TVs: QN900D, QN800D, QN90D
- 2023 Model TVs: QN900C, QN90C
- 2022 Model TVs: QN900B, QN800B, QN700B, QN95B, QN90B
Basic Mode supported:
- 2025 Model TVs: QE1F, Q7F, LS03FAW, QN1EF, QN70F, QN80F, QN85F, S85F, S90F, S95F

Starting Smart Calibration from the SmartThings app
Ensure that you have first connected your TV to the SmartThings app. Follow the steps below to register your TV on the SmartThings app and start Calibration.
Choose the calibration option that is available on your TV.
- Option 1. Basic Mode: Quick & simple picture quality adjustment within 15 - 30 seconds.
- Option 2. Professional Mode: It optimises more details of the picture for that is on par with professional level in about 5 to 8 minutes. It is recommended to use a tripod within a dark room condition for more accurate picture calibration.
Note: Basic & Professional Mode are available on select TV models. Please see above for a list of compatible devices.
You will be prompted to place the rear camera of your mobile device 1 - 3cm from the white rectangle area on the display device screen and select start. Then, hold your mobile device for more accurate results and wait for the calibration to finish.
Note: For Professional Mode, it is recommended to use a tripod within dark room condition for more accurate picture calibration. It takes around 5 - 8 minutes or more.
After Smart Calibration is completed, you can compare the before and after calibration then select Done. After calibration, the existing Picture Mode is changed to Movie (Calibrated).
Note: If you want to return your TV before the Smart Calibration, go to the following path to reset: Settings > All Settings > Picture > Expert Settings > Reset Picture.
- If you cannot run Smart Calibration, check that your devices are on the same Wi-Fi Network and Wi-Fi band e.g. 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz
- If you want to return your TV before the Smart Calibration, go to the following path to reset: Settings > All Settings > Picture > Expert Settings > Reset Picture
Note:
- Calibration performance can vary depending on environment and setup.
- If you are having trouble with your Samsung Smart TV, you should always check to see if there are any software updates available as these may contain a fix for your problem.
- Device screenshots and menus may vary depending on the device model and software version.
