  • What is Tizen OS?

    Tizen is a Linux-based operating system (OS) that powers all Samsung Smart TVs. As an open-source platform, Tizen OS allows developers to create apps optimized not only for smart TVs but also for other connected devices like smartphones, home appliances, and monitors.

    Samsung Smart TVs with Tizen OS offer the latest innovative features from Samsung. These TVs are more than just for watching shows and come with a wide range of built-in features for streaming, gaming, sharing and more. You can also connect to SmartThings to enhance your smart home, enrich your lifestyle and embrace a new level of convenience. Your experience is secured by Samsung Knox Security across all SmartThings devices.
  • Samsung now provides free Tizen OS updates on its TVs for up to 7 years from the product launch year.

    To check the current OS version of your Samsung TV and update it to the latest version available, there are a few different methods you can use.
    You can set your TV to update automatically when a new Tizen OS version is released. If you prefer to update it manually, you can do so in two ways — either over the Internet or using a USB.
    For details on each method, please see below.

    <Enable automatic updates>
    1. Navigate to and select Settings, then select All settings, and then select Support.
    2. Select Software Update.
    3. Select the Auto Update option to turn it on. Selecting it again will turn off the setting.

    <Download updates from the Internet>
    1. Navigate to and select Settings, then select All Settings, and then select Support.
    2. Select Software Update, and then select Update Now.
    3. New updates will be downloaded and installed. Updates usually take a few minutes. Make sure to not turn off the TV until the update is complete. Once the update is complete, your TV will restart automatically. If no updates are available, select OK to exit.

    <Update using a USB>
    1. Visit the Samsung Download Center and download the update for your specific model.
    2. Unzip the downloaded file and copy or move all the files to a USB.
    3. Connect the USB into a USB port on your TV.
    4. Navigate to and select Settings, then select All Settings, and then select Support.
    5. Select Software Update, select Update Now, and then select Yes if prompted.
  • Consumers who buy Samsung TVs will receive free One UI Tizen upgrades for up to 7 years from the product launch year. These apply to TVs released from 2023 onwards, and will include new features as well as updates to existing ones. Availability may vary by model and region.
  • With the 7-year OS upgrade, you'll get the latest version of your Samsung TV's operating system for free, with new features and enhancements to the UI, apps, AI, security and more — all via online updates. Features provided through upgrades may vary depending on model, region, product launch year and other factors.
  • The upgrades will support new features and boost the existing functions of your Samsung TV, making it easier and more enjoyable to use.
  • Due to hardware specifications, the 7-year OS upgrades apply only to Samsung TVs released after 2023. Accordingly, support may vary depending on model, region, product launch year and other factors.
  • If you purchase a 2024 AI TV, the support will last up to 7 years from 2024. This means that upgrades will be provided until 2030. You will be able to enjoy the features offered by the latest OS to the fullest extent possible during that time. However, some features or functions may not be available for certain models in the case of hardware limitations.
  • You can download and install apps on your Samsung TV in just a few simple steps.

    1. Press the Home button on your remote.
    2. Navigate to and select the "Search" icon on the left side.
    3. Enter the name of the app you want to download and select it from the search results.
    4. Select Install to begin the installation process.
    5. After installation, select "Add to Home" on the right side to add the app to the Home Screen. Then, press the Home button again, locate the app under "Downloaded App" and select it to open.
  • The YouTube app can be found on Samsung Smart TVs that support YouTube.

    1. Connect your Smart TV to your home network.
    2. Open the YouTube app from your Home screen or press the [YouTube] button on your remote.
    (Note: The availability of the [YouTube] button may differ by country.)
    3. Log in to your YouTube account.
    4. Navigate to and select the videos you want to watch on YouTube.
  • The Netflix app can be found on Samsung Smart TVs that support Netflix.

    1. Connect your Smart TV to your home network.
    2. Open the Netflix app from your Home screen or press the [NETFLIX] button on your remote.

    3. Log in to your Netflix account.
    4. Navigate to and select the movies or shows you want to watch on Netflix.

    2. Open the Disney+ app from your Home screen.
    3. Log in to your Disney+ account.
    4. Navigate to and select movies or shows you want to watch on Disney+.
  • Some apps, like Netflix and YouTube, have a built-in screen casting function that makes it easy to share what you're watching between your mobile device and TV.8

    1. Connect your mobile device and TV to the same Wi-Fi network.
    2. Make sure both your mobile device and TV have the app that you want to use for screen casting.
    3. Log in or create an account. Sign in to the same account on both your mobile device and TV.
    4. Open the content you want to watch through your mobile device.
    5. Tap the cast icon.
    (Note: The location of the cast icon will differ depending on the app you are using and the orientation of your phone.)
    6. Select your TV to watch content on it.
