Water Purifiers FAQs

  • Q. What is the difference between a countertop and an under-sink water purifier?

Countertop and under-sink water purifiers differ mainly in how they’re installed and where the filter is placed:

    • • Under-sink purifier: The filter is hidden under the sink, with only the faucet visible on the counter.
    • • Countertop purifier: The filter and water outlet are combined in a compact unit that sits directly on the counter.
  • Before installing a Samsung water purifier, keep these two points in mind:

    • • Sink countertop drilling: Under-sink models require a 25 mm hole for the main faucet and a 10 mm hole for the sub faucet. Countertop models need two 10 mm holes for the water hose.
    • • Water source compatibility: Samsung purifiers use UF (Ultrafiltration) filters, which are not suitable for use with groundwater.

Note: Please note that a professional installer may refuse to install the product if the home setup does not meet the product's requirements.
  • Samsung purifiers maintain hygiene through automatic cleaning functions:

    • • Electrolytic water sterilization: Cleans the inner water hoses every 3 days.
    • • Auto-drain: Removes standing water every 4 hours of inactivity.
    • • SmartThings control: Lets you adjust the sterilization schedule through the app.
    • • Extra hygiene: The water outlet can be detached and rinsed under running water.

Note: SmartThings is available only on certain models. It requires Wi-Fi, a Samsung account, and is compatible with Android and iOS.
  • You can purchase replacement filters (HAF-HIM) through the SmartThings app, Samsung.com, or any Samsung Electronics Service center.
  • Samsung water purifiers track your actual water usage and notify you via the SmartThings1 app when it’s time to replace the filter—either after 12 months or when 1,500 liters of water have been used. Filter replacement is simple and can be done by yourself.
  • You can check Samsung’s NSF2-certified3 results on the NSF Certification website::

    • • Samsung water purifiers use a 4-stage filtration system that removes 82 harmful substances, including microplastics4 and viruses5.
    • • Certified to eliminate 99.999% of norovirus6.

Note: The NSF certified model name is RWP70a15def, which was certified according to NSF/ANSI 42, 53, 401 NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 test methods.
  • Use the SmartThings7 app to adjust your purifier’s water temperature and volume.

You can set the temperature from 40°C to 90°C in 5°C increments8 and the volume from 50 ml to 1,000 ml in 10 ml increments.
  • Yes, Samsung water purifiers support voice control, but the functions vary by model:

    • • Under-sink models: You can set the dispense volume and temperature using voice commands with SmartThings9. For safety, automatic dispensing is disabled.
    • • Countertop models: Support direct voice-controlled dispensing without SmartThings. This works only when the built-in cup recognition sensor detects a cup.
  • When your Samsung water purifier is connected to the SmartThings7 app, you can:

    • • Operate and monitor the purifier remotely.
    • • Change settings and customize features.
    • • Receive alerts, such as filter replacement reminders, directly in the app.
  • After purchasing the Brewer Kit, attach it to the water outlet and connect it with SmartThings7.
Activate Brewing Mode in the app, then add or remove brewing recipes to customize your experience.
The Brewer Kit is available on Samsung.com.
