Dishwashers FAQs

  • Q. What’s the difference between freestanding, built-under, semi-integrated, fully built-in, and countertop dishwashers?

The difference is in how each dishwasher is installed and how it looks:

    • • Freestanding: A standalone design with its own top cover and plinth.
    • • Built-Under: Slides under the counter and has its own finished door, so no cabinet panel is needed.
    • • Semi-Integrated: Similar to built-in models but with a visible top control panel for easy access.
    • • Fully Built-in: Requires a custom cabinet panel, with all controls hidden for a seamless look.
    • • Countertop: A compact option that sits directly on the counter, ideal for small kitchens.
  • Check the following to make sure your dishwasher is appropriate for your home setup:

    • • Product size and installation type
    • • Installation space available
    • • Water supply and drainage connections
    • • Power source location
    • • Cabinet size and cover plinth height
    • • Exact dimensions (for built-in models)

Note: Please note that a professional installer may refuse to install the product if the home setup does not meet the product's requirements.
  • Keeping your dishwasher clean helps it run better and last longer:

    • • Machine Care: Cleans dirt and odor-causing bacteria without harsh detergents and reminds you to run a cycle every 20–22 uses. (Available on select models)
    • • SmartThings Home Care: Tracks usage, sends maintenance alerts, and helps troubleshoot issues. (Requires Wi-Fi, a Samsung account, and the SmartThings app available on Android and iOS devices; available on select models)
  • Yes. Dishwasher detergent is designed to work safely and clean effectively. Using regular dish soap can create too many bubbles, make a mess, and stop the dishwasher from working properly.

  • To keep your dishwasher safe and your items protected, follow these guidelines:

    • • Safe to load: Dishwasher-safe glass, porcelain, cutlery, plastics (if labeled), and baby bottles (if labeled).
    • • Avoid: Aluminum, Non-heat resistant plastics, copper, brass, tin, ivory, antiques, decorative glass, glazed ceramics, wood, silverware, and lead crystal.

Note: Delicate glass may become cloudy over time.
  • No, you don’t need to rinse dishes before loading. Samsung dishwashers clean effectively from all angles, especially models with a rotating dual wash arm.

Note: As an exception, for large or hardened food residues, a quick pre-rinse can help ensure a more thorough clean.
  • No. Using the Hygiene Care or Sanitise option extends the final rinse and heats the water to 70˚C, which kills bacteria and provides a deep clean. This ensures your dishes, cutlery, and utensils are safe and hygienic.
  • If your dishes aren’t drying properly, make sure the dishwasher isn’t overloaded, as this can block airflow. For better results, use a rinse aid and check your user manual for the right setting. If a low rinse aid message appears, refill the reservoir.

  • SmartThings AI Energy mode saves energy by tracking your dishwasher’s power use and predicting monthly consumption. It sends alerts if you may go over your target and, in energy-saving mode, lowers wash and rinse temperatures while extending cycle time to use less energy.
