Singapore, 4 January, 2017 – Samsung Electronics Singapore today announced the latest Galaxy A series smartphones – the Galaxy A5 (2017) and the Galaxy A7 (2017). Offering two screen size options – 5.2-inch for the Galaxy A5 (2017) and 5.7-inch for the Galaxy A7 (2017), the latest line-up comes with refinements that are a blend of stylish design, powerful performance and ultimate convenience.

The new Galaxy A (2017) draws on Samsung’s premium design heritage – it features a premium metal frame and 3D glass back. Equipped with sleek camera and home keys, the device design is more streamlined and seamless than ever, providing users with a more comfortable hold and grip.
Taking selfies on-the-go with the Galaxy A (2017) has also never been easier. Sporting enhanced front-facing and rear 16MP cameras, the Galaxy A (2017) offers unmatched camera capabilities for users to capture important memories. With accurate autofocus providing more stable capturing of images, photos and selfies taken are more vibrant and clear, even in low-light conditions. Users can touch anywhere on the Galaxy A (2017)’s screen to easily snap a high-resolution selfie with the floating shutter, while using the screen display as a front flash for brighter images. The Galaxy A (2017)’s cameras also offers a simplified UX for users, including easy swiping to quickly change modes, or instant filters to activate picture effects. Users can also leverage modes such as Food Mode, to optimise photos and enhance the colour of images.

With the Galaxy A (2017), everyday tasks will be less of a hassle for users, with its suitability for nearly any activity or situation. For the first time on the Galaxy A series, the smartphones are equipped with IP681-certified water and dust resistant capabilities, allowing it to withstand elements including rain, sweat, sand and dust. Additionally, the Galaxy A (2017) also offers users larger memory space on the device, with 32GB of internal storage2 and expandable storage of up to 256GB with its microSD slot3. With added usage flexibility, users will not need to worry about running out of space to store their content on their device.

Equipped with Samsung Pay, users can make safe and secure mobile payments without limits4 almost anywhere5 with their devices, through Samsung’s proprietary Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) technology and Near Field Communication (NFC). Approved as NFC-enabled devices for transit use in Singapore, users of the Galaxy A (2017) can also travel effortlessly with the EZ-Link Card6 that is activated in Samsung Pay. Local Pricing and Availability
The Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017) will be available from 21 January 2017 at the recommended retail price of $548 and $648 respectively, inclusive of GST. They will be available in three stylish colours – Black Sky, Gold Sand and Peach Cloud – at local telecommunications operators, major consumer electronics stores, authorised mobile retailers and Samsung Experience Stores.
Launching together with the Galaxy A (2017) is the Galaxy A (2017) Neon Flip Cover, available in Black, Gold, Pink and Blue at the recommended retail price of $78.
Galaxy S7 edge in Black Pearl
Samsung today also announced the retail availability of the new Black Pearl variant of the Galaxy S7 edge in Singapore. The glossy new colour, which radiates quality and luxury, will be exclusive to the 128GB version of the device.
The new Black Pearl Galaxy S7 edge follows the Blue Coral and Pink Gold editions that were released earlier last year. While those were inspired by calming and natural hues, the Black Pearl variant was designed to be modern and striking. The sleek black finish blankets the entire device – edges and all – and adds depth to its glass design. The result is a stylish all-black aesthetic that captures the essence of the colour in its purest form.
The Galaxy S7 edge in Black Pearl will be available from 7 January 2017 at a recommended retail price of $1,198, inclusive of GST. It will be available at all local Telecommunication Operators, selected Consumer Electronics/ IT stores, Authorised Retailers, and Samsung Experience Stores. In addition to the Black Pearl and other aforementioned editions, the Galaxy S7 edge is also available in White Pearl, Black Onyx, Gold Platinum and Silver Titanium.
